    Loving care clean good value

I put my mom here and overall I'm grateful - the staff are consistently caring, patient and available 24/7, nurses/CNAs and PT/OT are excellent, activities and music keep residents engaged, and homemade/customized meals, a cozy one-floor layout, sunny sunroom/gardens and spotless rooms give us real peace of mind. We did see occasional management/staffing problems (high turnover and a change in leadership with a few unsettling incidents), but the personalized, loving care and value made this place worth recommending.

    About Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home

Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home sits quietly at 55 Newland Street in Norton, Massachusetts, surrounded by five acres of fields and woods, and it's one of those places where you notice a slower, gentler way of doing things, with a focus on keeping folks safe, cared for, and comfortable, and you wouldn't find the fuss you'd see in big places, but there's housekeeping, laundry, three meals a day, and the staff helps with bathing, dressing, walking, even incontinence care, always aiming to keep residents as independent as their health allows. The home has 28 beds, all for people over 62, and it's a single-level building with no stairs to fuss over, which is good when walking gets tough, so there are wide, paved trails to stroll and a screened gazebo outside to sit in when the weather's nice or to watch the wildlife-since the land rolls out to a habitat right nearby and gives a peaceful view. Folks can choose a private or companion suite, bringing their favorite chairs or quilts, with a climate control thermostat in each space for comfort, plus emergency call buttons in every bathroom, bedroom, and shared area, so help is always close, and all rooms can have cable, internet, and a private phone line if a resident wants.

You can find a staff of nurses and certified nursing assistants available all day and night, offering help with everything from medication and diabetes management to wound care, memory care, and reminders for those who need them, especially for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's, because wandering is a worry and the building is set up to keep everyone safe. The home offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, respite care, and skilled nursing under one roof, where people remain in a familiar place even if their needs change, and there's also short-term care for caregivers who need a break. Residents can join in social activities, seasonal festivals, and outings, so they don't get lonely, and there's a dining room, barber shop, and beauty salon so folks can look after themselves with some dignity and not always feel like they have to leave home to get things done. There's a solarium for sitting in the sun, clinics come by for primary care, lab work, x-rays, therapy, podiatry, pharmacy and even wound treatment, so if you can't get out easily, you still get the care you need. The nonprofit nature of the place shows in the extra kindness, maybe because it's managed by Rogerson Communities, but also because the staff is encouraged to spend time, use patience, and pay attention to each person so care is gentle and always there without needing to beg for it.

The home's focus is to help elders avoid the disruption of moving into a distant nursing home when care needs get complicated, since help is on-site, and the setting, with its homey sunrooms and light-plus easy access for visitors-makes it a familiar spot where families remain involved. If family members or new residents want, tours are welcome, and there's time to meet staff and ask questions, which seems to matter when you're making such a big change. Shopping and transport for doctor's appointments are arranged too, and personal care assistants often do escorts so no one gets lost or flustered. The place is considered one of the safest in Massachusetts, and people have given it good ratings-4.5 stars based on first-hand reviews-but there's no published price list, so you need to ask about costs. Extra options for care in nearby cities are available through the organization if this home doesn't meet someone's needs. The approach is steady, with an emphasis on kindness, security, and a sense of community, all designed to give elders a front porch to watch the world from, instead of waiting alone behind closed doors.
