The Gables at Winchester sits on peaceful, landscaped grounds with a lake, a gazebo, community gardens, and even a dog park, and the building itself is three stories tall with a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, each with a full eat-in kitchen so residents can have the space they need and enjoy some privacy. The community offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, as well as short-term respite stays and nursing and rehabilitation services, so people can get the support that fits their needs. Staff are known for being helpful, joyful, and kind, and there are friendly faces available around the clock every day of the week, which means help is always close at hand for needs like medication management, in-house doctor visits, laundry, and weekly housekeeping. Each room includes an emergency response system to help keep residents safe at any hour. Residents get to use both cozy indoor lounges and outdoor gathering spots, and the building comes with a billiards room, a card and game room, fitness center, library, beauty salon and barbershop, activity studio, and even a movie theater for entertainment or socializing, and people can join exercise classes, social events, clubs, and movie nights that help everyone stay active and engaged. Meals are provided with the MyChoice Dining Program, which lets folks pick one, two, or three nutritious meals daily, and the restaurant-style dining room has different menu options, plus there's a private dining room for family visits and special occasions. There's also FOX Rehabilitation services and a chapel for religious needs. Transportation services are available to help with appointments or shopping, and the gated community has covered parking and lots of walking paths for fresh air. The Gables at Winchester is pet-friendly and even offers pet therapy, so residents can keep their pets with them or enjoy visiting animals. The grounds include a scenic conservation area, a lake, an outdoor pond, and walking gardens, so there's plenty of space to relax outdoors when the weather is nice, and people can join in community gardening or just sit by the pond. All apartments come with basic cable, internet, and satellite TV, and, for those interested, there are volunteer opportunities and group trips out in the community. With a focus on letting folks live as freely as possible while offering the help they need, The Gables at Winchester provides a comfortable, home-like place with both privacy and chances to connect with others throughout the day.

Warm attentive staff, comfortable home
I placed my mom here and have been very pleased - the staff are warm, attentive and go above and beyond, nursing/PT/dining services are excellent, and the bright, spacious apartments and active calendar make it feel safe and home-like. Move-in and ongoing communication were smooth; housekeeping, maintenance and transportation are reliable. Downsides: it's on the pricier side, outdoor walking space is limited and there's no on-site memory care; a few reviewers noted repetitive food and occasional staff working-condition concerns. Overall, highly recommend for quality, caring senior living.
