    Kind staff, clean, good care

I'm very happy here - the staff are genuinely kind, professional and attentive, the place is consistently very clean, and on-site nursing, therapy, weekly doctor visits, activities and good dining make daily life easy. Private studios, pleasant grounds and affordable/non-profit options were big pluses for me. I have heard isolated reports of turnover, theft and poor communication at some locations, so I recommend touring and asking about staffing and incident response.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is strongly positive for Wiley Christian Retirement Community. Reviewers repeatedly praise the quality of care, describing staff as kind, considerate, respectful, dignified, and empathetic. Multiple comments highlight that caregivers are properly trained, attentive, cheerful, and professional; that staff keep families informed with medical updates; and that the community provides strong, coordinated medical care. The presence of on-site nursing and an attached nursing home, on-site physical therapy, weekly visiting doctors, and social workers contributes to robust healthcare and rehabilitative support for residents.

Cleanliness and facility upkeep are emphasized consistently. Reviewers describe the buildings and grounds as very clean and well run, with beautiful, pleasant outdoor spaces, visitor areas, and events and celebrations that contribute to a homelike atmosphere. Housing options receive favorable mentions: there are private rooms, studio apartments, spacious assisted- or independent-living units, and townhouse-style independent living with reduced upkeep. Some units are noted for sunny exposure (kitchens and porches), and many residents feel happier and more at home there. Amenities such as a barber/salon, small store, and programs like adopt-a-grandparent and an on-site church reinforce a community feel and faith-driven culture that many reviewers appreciate.

Activities, dining, and daily life are other strong areas. The community runs frequent activities, outings, shopping trips, and events; staff actively help residents participate. Dining is described positively with “very good food” and dining rooms that support social interaction. Transportation and coordination for doctor visits are available, and reviewers note that the community is accommodating for both short-term rehabilitation and longer-term care needs.

Several reviews praise Wiley’s pandemic response, noting exceptional performance during COVID-19 with minimized exposure and far fewer cases relative to other long-term care facilities in the county. This bolsters perceptions of safety and professional infection control practices. Multiple reviewers also highlight the non-profit, lower-cost aspect of Wiley, suggesting value for money combined with high-quality services.

While overwhelmingly positive, there are some recurring administrative and safety concerns to be aware of. A few reviewers cited unprofessional behavior during the admissions process and poor communication around administrative items—examples include delays or lack of explanation for insurance authorizations, short bed-hold periods, and room availability coordination problems. Occasional comments called out unsafe driving by facility drivers. These issues seem limited relative to the overall praise but are important operational areas for improvement.

It is also notable that several strongly negative items in the summaries refer to another facility (Brandywine) and are provided in contrast to Wiley. Those reports include very serious incidents—burglary/burglar entry, caregiver theft, mocking of residents, falls, bedsores, poor cleanliness, non-functioning call buttons, careless laundry, and medication delays. In the context of these reviews, these negative items serve mostly to highlight Wiley’s favorable performance by comparison, but they underscore that prospective residents and families should still ask specific questions about safety protocols, staffing consistency, and admissions/insurance procedures.

In summary, Wiley Christian Retirement Community is consistently praised for compassionate, professional caregiving, integrated medical and rehabilitative services, clean and well-maintained facilities, active programming, and a strong community atmosphere reinforced by faith-based activities and useful amenities. The primary areas to probe further when considering Wiley are administrative communication during admissions and insurance processing, bed and room coordination, and transportation safety. Overall, reviewers depict Wiley as a safe, caring, and value-oriented community where residents feel at home and well-supported medically and socially.
