    Seamless move, caring staff, recommended

I moved my mother to Silverwoods and have been very pleased. The staff - Angela especially - were warm, professional and went above and beyond, making tours and move-in seamless; maintenance, nursing and activities teams are caring and responsive. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds and spacious apartments with good dining, transportation and onsite care options give us real peace of mind. Minor downsides (older units, occasional delays and extra fees for some amenities) aside, I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is broadly positive about the human side of Silverwoods and its setting, while highlighting variability in facilities, fees, and operational consistency. The most consistent praise centers on staff — both clinical and administrative — and on a strong sense of community among many residents. Multiple reviews single out individual team members (notably Angela and Bernadette, and clinical/maintenance/food staff such as Anna, Debbie, William, Mike and Linda) for being compassionate, communicative and proactive. Admissions and marketing staff receive repeated praise for easing transitions, facilitating paperwork and accommodating schedules; move-ins are frequently described as smooth and personal. Nursing checks, on-site assisted living and skilled nursing available on campus are seen as valuable features that provide families with a continuity-of-care option.

Amenities and the physical campus are other major strengths. Many reviewers commend the remodeled and brand-new apartments, spacious layouts (particularly 2BR/2BA units with porches and high ceilings), and a wide menu of shared facilities — clubhouse, indoor pool, gym, salon, restaurant-style dining room, and transportation services. Grounds and landscaping are often described as well maintained and park-like; proximity to Rt 37, medical facilities, beaches and shopping is listed as a convenience. Residents appreciate laundry options (either in-unit or shared rooms), flexible move-in timing, and the absence of large upfront entrance fees in some tenancy models.

Activities and dining receive mixed-but-favorable comments. There is frequent mention of a full calendar — excursions, holiday events, communal dinners, games, craft programs and trips — and several reviewers recount positive experiences with holiday dinners, live music and themed events. The dining program is praised for varied and substantial meals and for accommodating needs during the pandemic (e.g., grocery deliveries). However, complaints about meal budget constraints, uneven food quality, delivery fees and added charges for dining or transportation recur in multiple summaries.

Significant patterns of concern relate to inconsistent operations and extra costs. Several reviewers describe slow or inconsistent maintenance responses; more serious operational problems reported include plumbing backups, overflowing toilets, leaks with inadequate weekend coverage, and in some cases interior odors or wear despite exterior renovations. Security and emergency preparedness emerged as notable concerns in isolated but serious reports: unmanned gates, sleeping guards, unanswered emergency pendants, and a power outage that triggered evacuation because no backup generator was available — compounded by reported miscommunication from staff. Parking issues (no assigned spaces, crowded lots, limited accessible parking) and accessibility/snow-clearing problems at certain entrances are also repeatedly mentioned.

Financial transparency and fee structure are recurring themes. While many reviewers describe the community as good value, others note that rent can be high relative to included services, and that amenities often carry additional or mandatory charges (meal plans, bus transportation, amenity packages). A few reviewers express frustration with mandatory long-term commitments for added services and with aggressive billing practices reported in isolated cases. This variability means potential residents should carefully review what is included in rent, what requires extra fees, and whether any add-on packages are mandatory.

Overall, Silverwoods appears to be a warm, community-oriented senior living option with strong, empathetic staff and a broad range of amenities. The campus model that offers independent living with on-site assisted and skilled care is a clear strength for families seeking future care continuity. At the same time, prospective residents should weigh inconsistencies reported in maintenance and operations, verify emergency systems and security protocols, and scrutinize fee schedules and mandatory service commitments. Visiting in person, speaking with multiple staff members, and asking for written details about maintenance response times, emergency backup systems, included services, and any mandatory fees will help determine whether Silverwoods’ many strengths align with a prospective resident’s expectations and needs.
