    About The Pines at Davidson

The Pines at Davidson, open all hours, stands on 150 acres of land at 400 Avinger Lane in Davidson, North Carolina, and it's easy to see that the setting is important here because there are over 200 types of trees and shrubs, including pollinator-friendly plants, plus many flower gardens, and it's the only senior living community in North Carolina to earn a Level 1 Arboretum accreditation. Folks walk among California Redwood, Chestnut Oak, Dawn Redwood, and several other donated trees planted throughout the property, and the Pines Nature Organization (PNO) helps support the landscape and the arboretum process, with environmental education getting real attention. The land draws people outside, with gardens and trails within woods and fields, and residents often take interest, sometimes even making special requests for the plants or trees they'd like to see.

The community operates as a nonprofit and has been around since 1988. There are 157 apartments with choices from studios to two-bedroom suites, and each apartment's got its own kitchen with a dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, oven, and microwave, and there's a private balcony or patio for most spots where folks can garden in pots or just sit and watch the birds, and if someone wants to pick the paint or put up their own floors, that's possible, with help from a Transition Coordinator and staff who can hang paintings or help set up decor, making the move-in simpler. The Pines serves as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), so residents can choose independent living, use assisted living services, or have long-term nursing care if needed, and the Schramm Health Center is ready for direct admission and offers rehabilitation services.

The Pines employs between 51 and 200 people, with the focus always on a comfortable environment and activities-with options for learning, fitness, hobbies, cultural and social get-togethers, and being close to Davidson College means there's often a buzz with students, and the area has small cafes, shops, and parks all within easy reach. As a nonprofit, much of what gets done is thanks to gifts and attention from residents, families, and staff, and the land keeps changing-with nearly two dozen donated trees reflecting the deep connection many feel to this place. You can find out more at their website, http://thepinesatdavidson.org, which lists services, amenities, and the latest about their nature-focused approach, which is a point of pride for many who live there.
