    Friendly staff, good food, issues

I'm very happy with Preston Pointe - the staff are genuinely friendly and caring, the food is excellent, activities are plentiful, and the grounds and apartments are lovely and easy to navigate. That said, new management, staff turnover/shortages (especially wait staff), some maintenance issues, and no backup generator have been frustrating. Our move-in was chaotic - triple-booked, high-pressure sales, misrepresented availability, elevators unavailable and little move-in help or first-week social support - better communication and a welcoming committee would fix a lot. Despite those flaws the team is capable and engaged, my mother loves it, and I'd recommend it with those caveats.

    About Preston Pointe

Preston Pointe sits on NW Cary Parkway in Morrisville, right in the heart of the Research Triangle, so you've got easy access to the local hospitals and shopping across the street at Park West Village, which is handy for folks who want everything close by. Preston Pointe is a smaller retirement community with 95 independent living apartments and about 160 residents, and it's been around since 2009, offering month-to-month rentals so you don't have to worry about big entrance fees. The apartments are modern, with one- and two-bedroom options, each offering a full kitchen with Corian counters, Stove Guard sensors, brushed nickel faucets, a washer and dryer, climate control, walk-in shower, ample storage, cable TV, and an emergency response system with a wearable pendant. Each suite also has safety features like excess water detectors and Stove Guard sensors, which is useful if you worry about forgetting the stove or flooding. Preston Pointe has staff on-site 24 hours a day, an emergency call system, and a cordless phone system for emergencies, plus fire sprinklers and smoke detectors in each unit, so safety is well covered.

You'll find plenty to do if you like having things going on, with a movie theater, billiards room, shuffleboard, fitness center, computer center, game room, library, a café with free WiFi, and a beauty salon that includes a manicurist. There are well-kept grounds with walking paths, gazebos, benches, and a raised herb garden, plus an outdoor barbecue area if you want to enjoy the weather. There's all-day dining, a market for quick bites, guest suites, mail services, and convenient parking, plus an electric car charging station for those with electric vehicles. Housekeeping, apartment repairs, weekly dry cleaning pick-up, and valet trash service are some of the routine services offered, and they run scheduled transportation for doctors' appointments, shopping, and outings. Preston Pointe is pet-friendly and community-minded, with a focus on daily activities, social events, and programs led by an activities coordinator, a wellness coordinator, and on-site staff.

Gold Plus Living is an option for those wanting extra support, with more housekeeping and three full meals a day. Preston Pointe works with Comfort Keepers to give additional personal care services, for a fee, and has in-house rehab services for physical, occupational, and speech therapy. There's a registered nurse on staff, staff trained in first aid and CPR, and monthly health offerings like blood pressure checks and flu shot clinics. Outside healthcare professionals, such as audiologists, podiatrists, and visiting physicians, come regularly, while health planning and education sessions happen monthly. Preston Pointe mainly serves independent active seniors, but there's help available with medication, daily visits, and daily living tasks if ever needed. The building is built of non-combustible steel and concrete for safety, and there's 24-hour security. The community offers a combination of modern apartments and southern charm, with people who pay attention to the details, so residents feel at home and cared for.
