    Caring, safe, comfortable, active community

My mom lives at Beaverton Lodge and I feel relieved - the staff are caring and professional, residents are friendly, and the place feels family-like. The community is clean and updated, with large apartments (many with balconies and full kitchens), an indoor pool/spa, theater, garden and active exercise/brain-health programs that keep her engaged. They provide regular shuttle trips for shopping and medical appointments, serve very good meals and holiday dinners, and management is supportive - it's somewhat expensive but worth it. Minor downsides: limited visitor parking, fewer craft/social rooms, and a rigid meal plan with extra charges, but I highly recommend it for safety, comfort and companionship.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers consistently praise Beaverton Lodge for its welcoming, family-like atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff, and a broad set of amenities and activities that support active independent living. Multiple families emphasize that their loved ones are safe, happy and well cared for, and many reviewers say they would highly recommend the community. The facility is regarded as clean, well-maintained, and recently updated in places, which reinforces the favorable impression.

Staff and management receive particularly high marks. Reviewers describe staff as kind, accommodating, and professional, with visible management presence and a caring owner. Many comments highlight the warm, hospitable nature of the community and staff willingness to assist with resident needs. That consistent positive feedback suggests strong day-to-day resident support and a leadership team that is actively involved in operations.

Activities and amenities are a major strength. Reviewers repeatedly mention a robust activity program that includes brain-health activities, regular exercise classes, water aerobics, Wii bowling, weekly movies, and special events such as road trips and holiday dinners. Transportation is well organized, with shuttle buses and vans available for shopping trips, banking and medical appointments, and twice-weekly grocery runs — a notable convenience for residents who no longer drive. The facility offers attractive on-site amenities: an indoor pool and spa, a community movie theater, exercise rooms, a library (albeit described as small), and garden/wooded grounds. Laundry service (including towels and sheets) and community artwork add to the lived-in, homey feel.

Dining is generally praised for quality and presentation; reviewers call the food pleasant, fresh and enjoyable, and note a lovely, updated dining room. However, there are mixed or specific concerns about meal plans and service structure. Some reviewers report that only one meal per day is included with the base price and that additional meals incur charges, and others mention family-style dining served within a one-hour window. Conversely, a few comments reference a flexible meal plan and positive meal-service experiences, indicating some variability in how dining is handled or communicated. Prospective residents should clarify meal-plan details and any extra costs before moving in.

Accommodations and setting rate well: rooms are described as large, spacious, and some units feature full kitchens and private balconies. End-unit apartments and recent interior updates contribute to a pleasant living environment. The property’s wooded setting and garden areas are also consistently appreciated. On the downside, practical limitations appear: parking is limited for visitors and possibly residents, there is reportedly only one stove/oven for the building, and communal space offerings are thinner than some would like (fewer social rooms, no dedicated crafts room, and a small library). There are also isolated comments about staff follow-up not always being completed, which could be an area for operational improvement.

Cost and suitability are important considerations. Several reviewers call the community somewhat expensive but many say it’s worth the price given the amenities and quality of care. Importantly, Beaverton Lodge is positioned for independent retirees — reviewers explicitly note that the community lacks assisted living services, so it may not meet needs for higher levels of care. Location impressions vary: most note a quiet neighborhood near Beaverton with pleasant surroundings, but a few find the area congested or inconvenient.

In summary, Beaverton Lodge is a well-regarded independent living community with strong programming, rich amenities (pool, theater, transportation, activities), and a welcoming staff and management team. It is particularly well suited to active seniors who prioritize social engagement, fitness and convenient transportation. Prospective residents should confirm dining plan details, parking availability, and care-level limitations (no assisted living) to ensure it matches their needs. Minor operational improvements (parking, more communal rooms/crafts space, and consistent staff follow-up) would address the primary concerns raised in the reviews.

    About Beaverton Lodge

Beaverton Lodge stands as a retirement community in Beaverton, Oregon, just about 10 miles from downtown Portland, where folks 62 and older find a place with different care options like independent living, assisted living, memory care, and long-term care services, all inside a three-story building that holds 121 apartments. There are studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom choices, each one pretty roomy, starting at about 520 square feet and going up over 1,000, most with covered decks or patios, except for the studios, and they've got big windows with safety latches and thick curtains, plus wall-to-wall carpets and kitchens fitted with full-size fridges, countertop cookers, disposals, and lots of storage, and every place has its own air conditioning and heating unit, big storage rooms, and emergency pull cords. Bathrooms come with support bars, low barrier tubs and showers, and everything gets cleaned with weekly housekeeping and linen changes, so things stay tidy, with sound-resistant construction to keep it quiet, sprinklers for fire safety, and on-site resident managers ready to help any time of the day.

They made sure pets can stay too, and used special air systems-the kind NASA made for hospitals-to get rid of odors, help keep out wildfire smoke, and stop germs like COVID-19 from spreading so much, and filters run through the hallways for good air quality. Residents get free scheduled rides to shops and doctor appointments, and there are plenty of things to do like educational programs, group outings, exercise, a garden area, beauty and barber shop, indoor pool and spa, exercise room, and plenty of places set up for getting together, talking, or just hanging out, because Beaverton Lodge tries to foster a friendly community where it's easy to make friends and stay social.

There's a focus on both self-sufficiency and safety, which means those who want to stay independent get support only when it's needed, while those needing more help, like with memory or assisted living services, have well-trained, attentive staff around. Something pretty unique is their care for keeping things organized and clutter-free, believing that good surroundings help with peace of mind. They keep things affordable but still offer many comforts, like full Comcast TV (with optional packages), all utilities included except the phone, big storage spaces, and newly fixed up apartments with upgrades like granite countertops and updated patios and baths.

People who've reviewed Beaverton Lodge say the staff's friendly, the place is clean, and there's good attention to detail, leaving it with a 4.2 out of 5 rating. It isn't accredited by the BBB but mentions a focus on trust standards, and Margaret Norman is the general manager, so you know who's in charge. The community plays a part in the local area, offering an age-restricted environment designed for privacy, security, and staying active, with easy access to outdoor spaces and convenient features throughout.
