    About The Summit

The Summit sits on a 143-acre campus in the Wyndhurst community and has views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with an 8.5-acre private lake surrounded by walking trails, gazebos, a dock, and garden spaces, so folks get plenty of nature and open space right outside their doors. People can choose from different home styles like Lakeside Garden Homes, apartment homes, Northside Cottages, New Hybrid Homes, and spacious grand apartments, all of which are maintenance-free, and some homes are even lakeside with pretty views. Inside, residents get comforts like cable TV, telephones, full bathrooms, housekeeping, laundry including dry cleaning, and rooms that are furnished for easy living, with garden spaces for those who like the outdoors. The Summit offers several care types including independent living for active older adults, assisted living for those who need help with daily tasks like bathing and dressing, memory care for those living with dementia, skilled nursing, and short-term rehabilitation for those recovering from illness or surgery, all backed up by 24-hour supervision, fire safety systems, and trained staff. There's a full continuum of care, so residents don't have to move away if their needs change, and the community will help with medication, diet, and personal care, and will also monitor health with their Campus Wellness Center and on-site healthcare services. Meals are prepared and served restaurant-style with special accommodations for different diets, including diabetes and food allergies, which is helpful for many. The Summit has earned a Silver Winner for Best Retirement Community, and they put effort into keeping the environment friendly, with community-sponsored and resident-run activities, special events, movie nights, and opportunities for social engagement so people can stay connected and active. There's constant access to the campus, which includes comfortable common rooms, an arts room, a salon and beauty shop, a barber, an outdoor dining deck with mountain views, and plenty of parking and transportation help, along with move-in coordination to make settling in easier. The community design aims to give peace of mind, freedom, and relaxation, offering services for minds and bodies such as physical, occupational, and speech therapies, respite care, and non-ambulatory care for folks with mobility challenges. The Summit uses an all-in-one service approach, adapting care to fit each person's needs, and has a 24-hour supervision and emergency call system for safety and support. Residents get to join the Advantage Club if they wish, and there's been recent expansion of the community, building new homes and updating common areas like Blue Ridge Commons. It's a continuing care retirement community, often called a Life Plan Community, which means people pay a buy-in fee but can stay as their needs change, from independent to higher levels of care, all in one place. The Summit supports many languages, has a Facebook account for sharing news and events, and features both community and resident-led programs. The campus is designed so seniors can enjoy views, nature, and fellowship while getting the support and comfort they want and need.
