    Warm affordable homey independent living

I live here and rate it 5/5. The staff and owners are caring and personable, the place is clean and homey, and residents feel like family. Meals are very good (lots of vegetarian options) and the apartments are comfortable and reasonably priced; weekly housekeeping, free laundry, on-site salon and van service are very convenient. It's a small, mostly one-level independent-living community with supportive management, though the building feels a bit old-fashioned and activities were reduced during COVID (a new activities coordinator is starting). Overall I'd recommend it for friendly, affordable independent living.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Quail Run Retirement Community is strongly positive, with recurring praise for the staff, food, cleanliness, and the close-knit, home-like environment. A majority of reviewers highlight a caring, personable staff and hands-on ownership and management presence. Several reviews name managers (Parks and Rachelle) and describe them as caring, respectful, and engaged. Maintenance is described as responsive, and owners are frequently noted to be on-site and involved, with some reviews saying savings are passed to residents. The community atmosphere is repeatedly described as family-like, loving, and welcoming, and many residents say they are happy living there and would recommend it.

Care and services: Quail Run appears to be focused on independent living rather than higher levels of medical or skilled care. Reviewers consistently state the community offers weekly housekeeping, cleaning/trash services, and supportive caregiver policies that can help families managing dementia, but they also clearly note that it is not a full-care facility. Several reviewers mentioned that the community is caregiver-friendly and able to accommodate residents with dementia, and that staff are respectful and attentive. However, prospective residents who require full nursing or assisted living services should be aware of the facility's limits.

Staff and management: Staff are the standout strength across reviews. Descriptors used include caring, personable, loving, and respectful. Many reviewers emphasize that owners and managers are present, hands-on, and approachable, and that the staff go out of their way to be helpful. That said, there are isolated negative reports: one reviewer complained the manager “wasn’t nice,” and another cited a pattern of unhappy employees, an ex-con resident, and an incident requiring police involvement. These reports are in the minority but important to note as potential red flags for some families.

Facilities and accommodations: The physical environment receives a lot of positive feedback. Common areas are described as clean and homey — a pleasant library, puzzle room, movie room, and other communal spaces. Apartments are reported as comfortable and neat, with multiple size/options including nice one-bedroom units. Practical amenities include on-site barber/beauty salon, free laundry, and a transportation van for appointments. Location-wise, Quail Run is convenient to shopping (Bi-Mart mentioned) and walking-distance services. Several reviewers note the facility is somewhat older or “old-fashioned” and could use updating; this appears alongside praise for cleanliness and upkeep, indicating cosmetic aging rather than neglect.

Dining: Dining is a consistent positive. Multiple reviews call the cooking “fantastic,” with home-style meals, variety, and an extensive vegetarian menu. The meal-card dining system and choice in menu items are mentioned favorably. Food quality and variety are among the most commonly praised elements of daily life at Quail Run.

Activities and social life: Feedback on activities is mixed. Many reviewers list a wide range of activities (exercise classes, bocce ball, bingo, and more), communal spaces for puzzles and movies, and mention a new activities coordinator and plans to expand organized programming. Conversely, several reviewers specifically complained about a lack of scheduled activities, no summer activities, or reductions due to COVID. Multiple comments indicate that while the physical opportunities and spaces exist, the consistency and scheduling of organized activities have been uneven, though management appears to be aware and working to improve this.

Value and cost considerations: Most reviewers describe Quail Run as reasonably priced, often noting good value for the services provided. One reviewer strongly disagreed, saying the community “charged a lot of money,” so perceptions of value are generally positive but not unanimous. Reviewers also point out the limitation that the kitchenette is minimal (sink and refrigerator only), which may factor into perceived value depending on a resident’s needs.

Notable concerns and patterns: The dominant concerns are the limited level of care (independent living only) and inconsistent activity programming. The facility’s age and need for updating are mentioned often enough to be notable but are counterbalanced by comments about cleanliness and good maintenance. There are a few isolated but serious complaints (rude manager, an incident involving police, concerns about certain residents and staff morale) that warrant follow-up for prospective residents and families.

Conclusion: Quail Run Retirement Community is presented in reviews as a warm, well-run, small independent living community with exceptionally praised staff, strong food offerings, clean and homey common areas, and engaged ownership. It is particularly well-suited to independent seniors who value a family-like atmosphere, regular housekeeping, on-site amenities, and reasonable pricing. Prospective residents should be aware that it is not a full-care facility, activity scheduling has been uneven but is being addressed, and the building has a somewhat older feel that is generally well-maintained. Families should also ask management about specific incidents, behavior policies, and current activity schedules during tours to address the few negative reports mentioned in reviews.

    About Quail Run Retirement Community

Quail Run Retirement Community, over in Walla Walla, Washington, has a mix of living options for older adults, so folks can pick what matches their needs best, and there's independent living for seniors who are still active, assisted living for those needing help with things like dressing or bathing, and memory care for people living with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia, where the environment aims to help lessen confusion and keep people safe from wandering. The community also has home care where trained aides visit to help with daily life and provide companionship, and there're senior apartments with simple, accessible features for those who are generally active and don't need much help, as well as residential care homes acting kind of like shared houses for people who need a live-in caregiver. Family owns and runs the place, and there's a warm, diverse feel in the halls, with an honest effort to create a supportive and friendly setting, so you'll mostly find staff trying to help folks stay as independent as possible while still making sure help's available if someone needs it.

Meals come three times a day and always have a vegetarian choice, and there's an on-site salon, exercise classes, plenty of common rooms like a TV lounge, craft area, and a library, alongside outdoor spaces for fresh air. People can join group activities, clubs, and games or take part in planned outings and devotional services, either at the community or in town, and the activity calendar stays full so friendships form easy, which many find important. The apartments and homes come with free laundry rooms, all utilities except for the phone are included, and the place has expanded cable, free Wi-Fi, and a smoke-free rule, and there's always a snack and drink bar open. For safety, there are 24-hour emergency pull cords and weekly housekeeping with fresh sheets and towels, and guests can stay in their own rooms when they're available. The location sits close to hospitals, clinics, and local shops, which some find handy for appointments and errands.

Pets are welcome, too, and there's plenty of parking and scheduled rides around town, and with options like home care, assisted living, memory care, and independent living, there's something for folks at many stages of aging, and people find comfort in amenities that feel like home. The facility offers resources for families making long-term care decisions, plus guidance about caregiving and insurance, so relatives can feel a little more confident with plans. Quail Run Retirement Community gets good reviews, with a 5.0 rating from a handful of families, and the staff tries to keep things friendly, with an aim to help everyone live as well as they can, socially, emotionally, and physically, and the pricing for independent units depends on apartment size, floor plan, and the services people need. The place doesn't take Medicare or Medicaid for independent living and instead offers flexible, personalized rates, so families need to look closely at the best fit and what's covered, but people say the setting stays upbeat and the staff looks out for everyone living there.
