    Beautiful community with attentive staff

I live at Glen Eddy and it's a beautiful, well-kept place with comfortable apartments, lovely grounds and great views. The staff are attentive, caring and know you by name, which makes living here worry-free and safe; maintenance, transportation and meals are reliable. Dining is excellent, residents are friendly, and there are abundant, well-run activities and music programs. Minor downsides: the front desk is sometimes unattended and we've had occasional door-access issues, but overall this is a nurturing, long-term community I highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with frequent praise for the quality of staff, social environment, and breadth of programming. Multiple reviewers emphasized that Glen Eddy handled the COVID-19 pandemic responsibly — offering on-site vaccinations, maintaining clear communication (newsletters), and arranging meal delivery with residents still enjoying menu items such as desserts. When the dining room reopened, management implemented thoughtful seating plans to encourage new social interactions. Several reviews also highlight a smooth transition for incoming residents and note that the community supports a worry-free, independent lifestyle.

Care quality and staff performance are consistent standouts. Reviewers repeatedly describe staff as caring, attentive, responsive, and willing to go the extra mile. Many comments note that staff know residents by name and that there are long-tenured caregivers, which contributes to continuity and trust. Specific positive staff-related themes include helpfulness with move-in logistics, ongoing resident support, and personalized attention. Several reviewers explicitly described the staff as nurturing, loving, and honest, and multiple long-term residents reported high satisfaction with the level of care.

Facilities and living spaces receive positive remarks for being well-maintained and comfortable. The campus is described as pleasant with extensive walking paths, attractive grounds, and rooms that are "right-sized" for independent living; many apartments have balconies and easy outdoor access. Reviewers appreciated both apartments and cottages, citing privacy, quiet, and an environment that feels like home. The community is often characterized as warm, welcoming, and family-like, supporting independence while offering services such as maintenance and housekeeping.

Dining and activities are central to the resident experience. The dining program is repeatedly praised for good food and a highly rated dining experience; reviewers mention the dining room as an important social hub. Activities are described as abundant and diverse: organized options include mahjong, arts and crafts, exercise classes, educational programs, music events (notably strong musical programming and a banjo band), and off-campus trips. These offerings drive social engagement, help residents make new friends, and contribute to an active, social lifestyle. A few reviewers, however, noted that the activity lineup did not align with every individual's preferences, indicating that while the variety is broad, programming may not satisfy every resident's specific interests.

Services and lifestyle conveniences are well-regarded. Residents commend transportation options, planned outings, maintenance and home services, and an overall sense of safety. The community is seen as providing a "worry-free" lifestyle that allows residents more leisure time and socializing. Financially, at least one reviewer cited value influenced by a promotional half-off initial buy-in, indicating that cost can be a positive factor for some prospective residents.

Notable concerns and limitations are limited but important. A few specific operational issues were mentioned: the front desk can be unattended at times and there was at least one report of a door access problem, both of which raise intermittent concerns about reception staffing and access security. Spatially, some reviewers noted that certain units are smaller, which made the community less suitable for them. Additionally, at least one family reported that Glen Eddy could not meet their parent’s particular care needs, suggesting limitations in serving higher-acuity or specialized care requirements. Finally, though activities are numerous, they may not align with every resident’s personal preferences.

In summary, the reviews portray Glen Eddy as a well-run, community-focused senior living option with strong staff performance, well-maintained facilities, varied programming, and good dining services. The prevailing themes are attentive and experienced staff, an active and warm social environment, and reliable operations (especially in pandemic response). Prospective residents should be aware of occasional operational lapses (front desk coverage and access control), potential size constraints of some apartments, and the community’s scope of care if higher-level needs are anticipated. For many reviewers, however, the combination of staff quality, social life, activities, and maintenance of the physical campus made Glen Eddy an attractive, satisfying place to live.

    About Glen Eddy

Glen Eddy sits on 35 acres of landscaped grounds with lots of green space, putting greens, and gardens for vegetables and flowers where residents can walk on paved paths or sit outdoors on private patios, porches, or balconies, depending on whether they live in one of the 82 one- or two-bedroom apartments or one of the 16 two-bedroom cottages, and those cottages come with attached garages, gas fireplaces, built-in bookcases, cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors, and their own outdoor areas. All residences have individually controlled heating and air conditioning, step-in showers with seats, solid surface countertops, fully equipped kitchens with stainless steel appliances, in-apartment laundry, on-site storage, and utilities like phone, cable TV, and Wi-Fi included, so residents don't have to worry about those details.

Glen Eddy feels quiet and homey, but it's also got a sense of activity because of their fireside lounge, art studio with lots of light and supplies, library with a fireplace and big windows, woodworking and hobby room, beauty and barber shop, and indoor heated pool with safety features and a seascape mosaic, perfect for swimming, exercise, or just relaxing, and there's always something planned on their full calendar of activities, outings, and wellness programs like EmpowerU. Residents eat meals in bright dining rooms with large windows and a brick wall, served restaurant-style by staff, and the food ranges from fine to more casual, always aiming to be nutritious.

Security and safety remain a focus, with a 24-hour security staff, emergency call systems, and daily safety checks like bed making, trash removal, and touch-up cleaning, so family members feel peace of mind that their loved ones have help in reach if they need it. Scheduled transportation takes people to appointments and shopping, while maintenance, housekeeping, linen service, and snow and trash removal keep things running smoothly and free up time for people to enjoy more social, recreational, and educational programs. Pets are welcome.

Healthcare support covers a wide range with independent living, assisted living, nursing and rehab, adult day care, memory care, and home health services, and Glen Eddy does offer short-term respite stays of fourteen days up to seventeen weeks. Residents who need extra help, such as at The Terrace at Glen Eddy, get assistance with daily tasks like dressing, bathing, or taking medicine, and skilled nursing, therapies, and case management are handled by licensed nurses and care assistants who are on duty at all hours, with podiatry, dental, psychological, and outpatient mental health care services also available as needed. Glen Eddy operates as part of St. Peter's Health Partners and keeps services in line with Medicare, Medicaid, and state licensing standards. They have a strict COVID-19 visitation policy requiring proof of a negative rapid test and masks for visitors.

The main building feels welcoming and distinctive, with a turret at the entrance, covered drop-off for comfort in winter or rain, and the lobby's elegant sitting area offers comfortable chairs, warm lighting, and ornate décor, showing off the emphasis on both comfort and safety. Glen Eddy tries to mix privacy, with well-designed private living spaces, and opportunities for lively social activity, offering residents a setting that feels both secure and open to meeting others and trying new things as time goes on.
