Riverhead Landing sits right at 1145 Middle Road in Riverhead, Long Island, and folks there find an age-restricted, resort-style apartment community meant for people 55 and over, so you'll see friendly faces and get professional management handling the day-to-day, and you'll notice there's a big, well-kept clubhouse with a fireplace where residents can sit, visit, or join card games, and there's a fitness center right inside that clubhouse for exercise routines which really keeps folks moving. There are 200 apartments in spacious one- and two-bedroom layouts, each with fully equipped kitchens-dishwasher, microwave, range, refrigerator-and washers and dryers in the apartments, plus bath tubs and designer color schemes, and you can bring your small dog or cat if they're under 25 pounds, so pets aren't left behind. The place has wide hallways, no-step or ramped entrances, and grab bars in the bathrooms which makes everything safer and easier to get around for folks with mobility concerns, and there's accessible parking with controlled access to help everyone stay safe and comfortable. There's a swimming pool with a big deck for relaxing, bocce, shuffleboard, horseshoes, tennis courts, even a putting green, plus walking and hiking trails cutting through acres of beautiful grounds, all of which gives people lots to do outside whenever the weather's good, though you won't see mentions of extra outdoor pavilions or gardens like some places have. Inside, the Riverhead Landing staff takes pride in organizing a full calendar of social, educational, and fun activities, and there's structured programs to help residents make friends while staying active in mind and body, and they focus on healthy, chef-prepared meals. The grounds and facilities stay very clean and repairs get handled quickly by the maintenance team. The community supports residents with different needs, offering independent living for active seniors, assisted living for those who need some help with things like bathing or medication, and memory care for folks with dementia-it even has respite and short-term stays, plus home-care services for people living nearby. There's also transportation services, and you're close to Riverhead's shops, restaurants, medical centers, and plenty of local attractions. The building was put up in 1999, covers over 162,000 square feet, and the staff focuses on helping with paperwork, administrative things, and even digital communications if you need, and you'll find recognition attached to the "Best of Senior Living" for its high-quality care. Residents' privacy and comfort come first, with controlled access, a resident portal, and round-the-clock options for support, and they encourage people to keep their independence for as long as possible while staying healthy and taking part in daily life.
Beautiful grounds and excellent amenities
I moved here and it's perfect for us - beautifully manicured grounds, excellent amenities (pool, putting green, shuffleboard, bocce), and a bus stop plus a big shopping center steps away. Staff and management are courteous, efficient, helped with paperwork, and maintenance is outstanding. Apartments have ample closets, nice views and patios/balconies, but some 2-bed plans feel odd, patios are small and cabinets/stacked W/D could use updating. Five stars - worth the move.
