    Newly renovated, clean, friendly, affordable

I moved into this almost brand-new, renovated small community and feel right at home. It's awesomely clean, apartments are a good size, and management and staff are genuinely friendly, dedicated, and watchful - they made the transition easy and provide 24/7 care. Weekly housekeeping (bathroom, trash, linen), on-site laundry with a paid service option, and helpful maintenance are big pluses. There are regular activities (bingo, arts & crafts, puzzles) though I'd like more outings. It's affordable, in a great location, and I'd recommend it to families, despite occasional staffing issues; I only wish I could cook in my room.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the review summaries for Brick Corner Independent Living is strongly positive, with the most frequent praise directed at the staff, cleanliness, and the facility itself. Reviewers repeatedly describe staff as friendly, helpful, and genuinely invested in residents’ wellbeing. Multiple summaries remark that staff treat residents as individuals, engage in activities with them (for example, doing puzzles), and provide a watchful, caring presence. This personal attention contributes to an easy transition for new residents and several recommendations to friends and families.

Care quality and staffing. Reviewers note 24/7 care availability and 24-hour maintenance, which suggests a baseline of around-the-clock support and rapid response for maintenance needs. At the same time, a recurring concern is staffing issues or inconsistent staffing levels. While the tone overall remains positive about staff dedication and engagement, the mention of staffing problems indicates occasional gaps or strains on personnel that might affect service consistency. Prospective residents should ask management for specifics about staffing ratios and how the community handles peak needs or absences.

Facilities and living spaces. The building itself receives high marks: it’s described as very clean, nearly brand new, and is noted to be a renovated school — a feature that reviewers seem to appreciate. Apartments are described as nice and appropriately sized, and rooms are renovated when residents move in. The community is smaller, which reviewers associate with a friendly atmosphere and more personalized attention. On-site amenities include a laundry room and the option to pay for a laundry service, along with 24-hour maintenance. The combination of cleanliness, ongoing renovation, and attentive upkeep is a consistently highlighted strength.

Housekeeping, services, and costs. Weekly housekeeping is explicitly praised; reviewers mention bathroom cleaning, trash pickup, and linen changes as part of the regular service. Maintenance coverage around the clock is also emphasized positively. The availability of a paid laundry service is convenient but noted as an extra cost; this is something prospective residents should factor into their budget. Multiple reviewers also describe the community as affordable overall, which enhances its appeal.

Activities and social life. Activities are available — reviewers mention bingo, arts and crafts, and staff-led engagements like puzzles — and staff are described as participating alongside residents, which supports social connection. However, a clear pattern is the desire for more outings or off-site activities. For residents who prioritize frequent excursions or a large variety of off-site events, the current activity schedule may feel limited. The smaller community size likely fosters close social bonds but may also constrain the scale and diversity of activities offered.

Management and community feel. Management is described positively — “great” and responsive — and the community’s smaller scale contributes to a family-like atmosphere appreciated by reviewers. The facility’s location is seen as a plus. Several reviews explicitly recommend Brick Corner to families and other prospective residents, which underscores general satisfaction with management and the environment.

Notable limitations and recommendations. The principal negatives drawn from the summaries are staffing issues (inconsistent staffing or coverage), a desire for more outings, the inability to cook in-room, and extra fees for laundry service. These items are not presented as dealbreakers in the reviews but are recurring themes potential residents should investigate further. Suggested questions for prospective residents or their families: How does management address staffing shortages? What is the typical activity calendar and frequency of off-site outings? Are there kitchenettes or alternative meal/cooking arrangements for residents who want to prepare food? What are the fee structures for optional services like laundry?

In summary, Brick Corner Independent Living is consistently praised for its compassionate and engaged staff, clean and renovated facilities, weekly housekeeping, and an intimate community atmosphere. It appears to offer good value and reliable maintenance and care coverage, but prospective residents should clarify concerns about staffing consistency, the extent of off-site activities, and any additional fees for services before committing. Overall, the reviews present Brick Corner as a well-maintained, resident-focused independent living option with a warm community feel and a few practical limitations to confirm during a tour or meeting with management.

    About Brick Corner Independent Living

Brick Corner Independent Living sits on a quiet property in Savannah, New York, about 8.8 miles from Centerport, and they're careful to make life easy for adults aged 55 and older who want to stay active but seek fewer hassles with keeping up a home. The place has 38 apartments with choices for studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, each with private bathrooms, furnishings, and all the utilities included-that means you get cable TV with 100 channels, internet, heat, and electricity as part of the rent. Most folks like that meals come homemade with a menu that rotates, served in a family-style dining room with full-service wait staff, and if you wake up at odd hours or want a snack, all-day dining options are there. Laundry's done in-house, cleaning services and linen changes happen every week, and if you need a notary or dry cleaning, that's offered on-site too, so errands shrink down to hardly anything. Parking's never a trouble spot, so family and friends can always visit, and the place has bus partnerships and ties with groups like SOAR, SPAN, Clyde Library, and Savannah Chamber of Commerce, which helps with rides and local events.

A lot of activities fill the days: arts and crafts in a special room, light exercise, table games, trips to the library, and frequent special events, plus social and educational classes. Folks can always find someone chatting, working on a puzzle, or doing crafts in the shared rooms, and there's a barber and salon right in the building. Old-timers remember the place was once Savannah Elementary School before it got fixed up for senior living, so the halls are wide, and the building feels solid. Safety's taken seriously with security systems, two night watchmen, a 24-hour emergency call button in every unit, and routine lawn and building maintenance. There's always a warm, lively feeling-staff gets to know each resident, and it seems like people are quick to offer a helping hand or a friendly word.

While folks live independently, there's help if anyone needs medication reminders, some extra support with daily tasks, or even therapy and rehabilitation offered right on-site. The community covers small things like trash pickup, mail services, and offers move-in help, so moving is less of a worry. The culture feels rooted in kindness, patience, and the kind of small-town values you'd expect from a tight-knit town, and the whole place is meant to let seniors live comfortably without chores piling up, surrounded by friends, with chances to stay busy, safe, and happy. Apartments come tailored however you need, and staff are known for treating everyone with dignity and respect, always ready for a chat or to sit and play a game.
