    Top shelf compassionate dementia care

I am so grateful for this place. My mother (Alzheimer's) has lived here three years and my sister moved in December - the staff provide top-shelf, compassionate dementia care and truly treat residents like family. They're patient, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond during hospice and difficult times, educating and supporting our family. The facility is simple but very functional (wide halls, big outdoor area, activity and dining rooms; private rooms cost extra). Daily activities - yoga, trivia, memory exercises, music and animal visits - keep residents engaged, and staff are attentive, accommodating, and give me real peace of mind. I highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews present Cedar Creek Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care very positively, with repeated emphasis on high-quality, specialized dementia care and a compassionate culture. Families describe relief and peace of mind from placing loved ones there and frequently recommend the community. The dominant impression across the summaries is that staff take a deeply humane, patient, and family-oriented approach to care.

Care quality and staff: Reviewers consistently highlight staff expertise in Alzheimer’s and dementia, calling the team compassionate, knowledgeable, and patient. Medtechs and resident assistants receive explicit praise, and reviewers note thorough check-ins, professional interactions, and staff who go above and beyond routine duties. Several comments stress that staff not only deliver good clinical care but also provide emotional support—mourning with families and facilitating dignified hospice transitions—indicating strong person-centered and end-of-life care practices.

Activities, social life, and community: A strong social program and community life are repeatedly mentioned. Daily activities cited include yoga, trivia, memory questions, music visitors, and animal visits; an activity room and a dining room host social events. Families report an engaged resident community and frequent opportunities for visitors to participate (for example, being encouraged to join for meals), which reinforces a family-inclusive atmosphere. This combination of structured activities and spontaneous social support appears to contribute to a strong sense of belonging among residents and relatives.

Facilities and physical environment: Several practical features are noted: wide halls, a big outdoor area, private rooms (available, though more costly), an activity room, and a dining room. At the same time, multiple reviewers describe the facilities as "pretty basic," suggesting the physical plant is functional and comfortable but not luxurious. The environment is depicted as calm and appropriate for dementia care, prioritizing safety and accessibility over upscale amenities.

Management, communication, and family engagement: Administration and front-line staff are described as welcoming and accommodating. Families report that staff educate them about dementia and offer guidance, helping relatives understand evolving needs and care strategies. Reviewers emphasize positive engagement from management and staff who encourage visits, adapt to residents’ levels and preferences, and create peace of mind for families—hallmarks of effective communication and partnership with families.

Patterns, longevity, and recommendations: Reviewers include accounts of long-term residency (multiple years) and placing more than one family member in the community, which implies trust and satisfaction over time. The most commonly stated recommendation is to consider Cedar Creek for dementia-specific care because of the compassionate staff, strong programming, and supportive culture.

Concerns and caveats: The primary negatives are financial and material: private rooms carry a higher price, and the facilities are characterized as basic rather than upscale. Reviewers do not provide much detail about dining quality or other luxury amenities, so prospective families who prioritize those aspects should inquire directly. As with any placement, visitors should tour the community, ask about room costs and what is included, and discuss specific clinical and social needs to confirm the fit.

Bottom line: Cedar Creek Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care is consistently praised for its dementia expertise, compassionate and professional staff, robust activity programming, and strong family engagement. It appears especially well-suited for families seeking a caring, community-oriented environment focused on dignity and specialized dementia support, while those seeking high-end physical facilities or lower-cost private rooms should factor those considerations into their decision-making.

About Cedar Creek Alzheimer's and Dementia Care

Cedar Creek Alzheimer's & Dementia Care Center sits in Los Gatos, California, and has cared for people with memory loss since 1996, focusing on Alzheimer's and dementia and giving each resident support for their unique needs, so if you or your loved one needs assisted living, memory care, or nursing services, this place covers all those options, even independent living, and what's nice about Cedar Creek is they have a dedicated center just for Alzheimer's and dementia care, where the staff-like licensed nurses, vocational nurses, assistants, and social workers-keep a close watch and treat each person with respect and acceptance for who they are at every stage, and you can see the effort in how they designed the place with private or semi-private rooms, some with kitchenettes, individual closets, and half baths, and they've even thought of touches like personal display cases by each door so families can put out photos and keepsakes. The grounds are secure, and everyone can enjoy fresh air with patios and gardens, while inside you'll find regular meals in the dining rooms, easy access to laundry services, beauty salons, and a hydration station for good health. Residents can meet with visiting doctors, dentists, and podiatrists on-site, and staff help with daily activities and medication, offering one-on-one services for an added fee. Cedar Creek accepts up to 58 residents, and their caregivers know what to watch for as memory changes, offering social activities and recreation so each person can find enjoyment and feel like they belong, and whether you need respite care, nursing services, or ongoing support, the community aims to give residents a safe and caring home, always focused on memory care, with specialized programs and around-the-clock supervision from staff who really treat everyone like family. Cedar Creek also runs similar memory care communities in Castro Valley and nearby East Bay and South Bay areas, but in every location, you'll find that same commitment to helping those with memory loss lead as rich and independent a life as possible, with features and amenities tailored to dementia and Alzheimer's needs.
