About Silverado Thousand Oaks

Silverado Thousand Oaks is a memory care community purposefully designed to cater to individuals living with dementia and related memory impairments. The community goes beyond typical assisted living by providing a specialized focus on memory care, offering three distinct care “neighborhoods” to accommodate residents at various stages of memory loss. Within these neighborhoods, residents benefit from an environment thoughtfully crafted to enrich their lives, with amenities and features aligned to meet the diverse needs that arise with dementia. The staff at Silverado undergo an extensive certification process, including 40 hours of classroom and hands-on training, ensuring that care is both knowledgeable and compassionate. Oversight within the community is provided by a medical director, a masters-level social worker, and 24-hour licensed nursing staff, all working to deliver comprehensive and responsive support to both residents and their families.

A cornerstone of Silverado Thousand Oaks’ approach is its dedication to evidence-based, non-drug interventions for brain health. The Nexus at Silverado program is internationally recognized and designed for residents in the earlier stages of dementia, aiming to improve cognition and daily functioning. This commitment to innovative engagement is further reflected in the community's robust schedule of activities that promote purposeful living, including outings to natural spots like the Thousand Oaks Botanical Gardens. The community continually strives to create fulfilling opportunities for residents, encouraging exploration, social engagement, and a connection to the outdoors in the sunny Southern California climate.

Leadership at Silverado Thousand Oaks is comprised of a team of dedicated professionals who bring a wealth of experience and personal passion to their roles. Rob Babasanta serves as the Administrator, drawing from over 13 years of nursing experience and a deep-rooted commitment to serving older adults. Clinical direction is further guided by the Director of Health Services, Heather Hampel, who brings an extensive background in nursing and elder care, and the Director of Resident and Family Services, Brooklynn Cavalli, whose experience is informed by both professional education in health sciences and gerontology as well as a profound family connection to dementia care. Jillian Sbitani acts as Family Ambassador, fostering meaningful connections and ensuring that the familial aspect of care remains central, while Jessica Torres as Community Ambassador leverages her background in home care and public relations to provide educational resources and advocacy for families.

Resident engagement is led by Jessie Alfaro, Director of Nexus and Resident Engagement, whose journey within Silverado began as a caregiver and has evolved into a leadership role centered on enhancing quality of life through dignity, empathy, and non-drug strategies. The culinary experience is elevated by Director of Culinary Services, Brian Bernardez, who utilizes over 15 years of expertise to create dining experiences that delight and nourish. The physical environment is maintained by Milton Romero Pineda, Director of Plant Operations, ensuring the community remains welcoming and safe. Francie Demerey, Clinical Staff Manager, oversees the continual delivery of high-quality, supportive care to residents and associates. Office operations are smoothly managed by Marisol Villa, whose longstanding commitment to the Silverado family enhances the daily experience for everyone in the community.

Silverado Thousand Oaks is deeply committed to supporting not only the individuals who reside there but also their families. From facilitating transitions into the community to providing opportunities for family involvement and support, the care home’s staff demonstrate a profound understanding of the complexities surrounding memory care. Through tailored programming, experienced leadership, and a nurturing environment, Silverado Thousand Oaks stands out as a community dedicated to enriching the lives of those living with memory loss.
