      About The Colony

The Colony sits in the rolling hills of Murrieta and is a 55+ senior living community known for its peaceful, well-kept grounds and friendly neighbors. The community features 1,586 detached homes, some single-story and some with two stories, many of them backing up to either the California Oaks Golf Course or a wide greenbelt, and there are lovely views of ponds, creeks, and woodlands where you'll often see local wildlife. The Colony is gated with a 24-hour attendant and regular patrols, so security is always a focus, and the neighborhood has a strong sense of community with many residents saying they love living there.

The Colony offers a range of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, respite care, and skilled nursing, and there's personalized help available for daily activities, meals, and medication management if needed. The Colony at California Oaks is the senior apartment section, and the main community boasts a big clubhouse as its heart, where you'll find a gym, a library, a large auditorium, a beauty salon, meeting rooms, and a billiards parlor, along with flexible spaces for both small gatherings and big events like stage plays or concerts. There's a closed circuit T.V. channel for news and updates, a staff Travel Director who helps plan trips, and a full-time Activities Director who creates social events, club meetings, and outings.

Residents can use a fitness center, swim laps or relax in the big pool or one of the hot tub spas, and enjoy tennis courts, paddleball, bocce ball, pickleball, shuffleboard, and walking trails that snake through pretty outdoor areas with Mediterranean landscaping and plenty of trees. Folks can join clubs, take part in happy hours or pool parties, or simply enjoy the beauty of the grounds on a walk or bike ride. The golf course, designed by David Rainville, winds nearby with lakes, doglegs, and several sets of tees, and residents get discounted green fees.

There's help available for those who need short-term breaks through respite care, and specialized care for those with disabilities or memory concerns. Social engagement gets encouraged, both through planned programs and as part of daily life. The Colony works with the Meta company and offers Facebook-related services for those interested in technology and social media. The community has its own organization, the Colony Cal Oaks Home Association, that helps support and serve residents. Tours are offered if you want to meet the staff, talk with residents, and see everything up close, and there's a map to help find your way around. The overall feel is active but casual, with a focus on helping seniors keep their independence while offering plenty of support and opportunities to connect with others.
