      About GADC River House

GADC River House, also called Greenwich Adult Day Care River House, sits in a renovated historic Pump House built back in 1927, nestled along the Mianus River in Cos Cob, CT, and when you step inside, you can see they've worked hard to keep that history and charm while updating everything so it's safe and comfortable for today's seniors and adults with disabilities. River House runs as a medical model adult day center, which means they've got nurses, certified nurse's aides, therapeutic recreation staff, a social services coordinator, and a direct hand in making personal care plans with doctors, families, and the members themselves, and you can see they're set up to care for folks with dementia, Alzheimer's, depression, stroke, brain injury, heart trouble, diabetes, arthritis, and even hearing or vision loss. The facility offers specialized programs to help people with memory issues, like the GAZEBO program for advanced Alzheimer's or dementia, and you'll notice they put a lot of effort into engaging activities, therapeutic recreation, and social programs so people can keep active and connected to others.

They're licensed to serve up to 75 people each day-about half more than before-and offer all sorts of support like nursing services, medication management, help with incontinence care, podiatry, assistance with daily living, hot meals, rehabilitative therapy, and beautician services, and you can tell they've tried to make everything accessible, dignified, and safe for those who need daytime care but want to keep some independence. River House also helps caregivers through counseling, information, support groups, and respite, which gives folks at home a chance to rest and worry a bit less, knowing their loved one is monitored and cared for. The facility has transportation for Greenwich residents, staff monitors health and personal needs, and everyone works together under the guidance of GADC's Board of Directors, their Building Committee, dedicated staff, and volunteers-plus the leadership draws on years of nonprofit experience, supported by various grants and the local community.

Every day, members take part in activities aimed to help slow cognitive decline, keep minds and bodies sharp, and offer plenty of chances for community engagement and socialization, which really seems to brighten up daily life for many. The building offers big windows and beautiful views, and you can schedule a tour so you can meet the staff and other members. River House welcomes folks ages 21 and up with physical or cognitive limitations, and they serve Greenwich, Stamford, and nearby areas, focusing on giving adults a good quality of life during the day. If someone needs reliable care, therapy support, or just a safe, friendly place to spend time while their caregiver's at work, River House covers most needs, making sure people get the right balance of independence and support in a peaceful spot with history.
