Keswick Assisted Living sits on a three-story building in Baltimore, Maryland, and has been remodeled to better serve older adults who want to stay as independent as they can while getting the support they need, and people will find private rooms and studio apartments, a secure garden, and indoor spaces where residents can gather for different activities, like community meals where vegetarian options are always available, a creative arts studio for art, dance and yoga rooms for movement, an exercise room, and a display kitchen for cooking classes, with a classroom for learning something new together or by oneself. There are group activities-like trivia, bingo, dominoes, card games, storytelling, sharing books, gardening, music, news updates, and special programs including Mindful Movement, Garden Club, and Tai Chi, which help keep both body and mind active, and every resident can join in as much or as little as wanted on any day. The staff has nurses present every day and night, doctors and other professionals like podiatrists, dentists, physical, occupational, and speech therapists who visit as needed, and everyone's on call for emergencies at any hour. There's a specialized secured area with added technology like bracelets and safety features for residents with memory challenges, with a brain health program and different supports for those who might be at risk of wandering or need a little extra help, and Keswick doesn't turn away people with major behavioral needs in their memory care program either. Every person gets a care plan designed for them, which is looked at and changed as needs grow-residents can keep living there even if they need more help later, and there's support for challenges like diabetes, incontinence people can manage themselves, elopement risks, and non-ambulatory care, plus they'll help with things like two-person transfers from bed to wheelchair if needed. Pets are welcome. There are both indoor and outdoor common areas, a beautician, wheelchair accessible showers plus full tubs, and amenities like meals included every day to make life easier. Housekeeping and transportation are available, with some rides free and others have a fee, and bus lines are close by. The Wise & Well Center focuses on healthy living, classes, and wellness programs for those age 50 and up, and Keswick offers long-term care including a dedicated 175-room unit if rehabilitation or nursing care becomes needed for a longer period, with access to medical, pastoral, therapeutic recreation, social work, and hospice services. Everything is run by Keswick Multi-Care Center in partnership with MedStar Health and is a part of Maryland's Community For Life program, which helps people stay at home instead of moving into a nursing home, with support like rehabilitation programs meant to help people gain back their strength so they can keep doing the things they like. Keswick is licensed by the State of Maryland, they work with Medicaid and Medicare, accept private pay, insurance, Social Security, and Veterans' benefits, and there are one-time community and daily respite care fees, so folks have choices about money. People need to be 55 or older to live at Keswick, and the community takes care to respect dignity and independence, changing support as health and needs shift while offering a comfortable, home-like atmosphere focused on letting each resident thrive at the pace that's right for them.
