    Neglected care understaffed and unsafe

I had a horrible experience here. Call buttons were routinely ignored (I waited 30 minutes), RNs/LVNs often didn't respond, and basic care was neglected - poor bathing, a persistent rash and unresolved wound care for years. The place is understaffed, poorly managed, and communication is terrible, which led to multiple hospitalizations, delayed surgery, and ongoing safety issues. A few activities and friendly people (Maryanne, PT, bingo, music) exist, but they don't make this facility safe or acceptable. I do not recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across these reviews is mixed but predominantly negative, with multiple serious concerns about clinical care, staffing, communication, and management. While reviewers note some positive aspects — friendly or accommodating staff members, convenient location, on-site physical therapy, and active recreational programming such as Bingo, piano, singing, and dancing — the most frequently and emphatically reported themes are lapses in basic care and safety and significant management and communication problems.

Care quality and safety emerge as primary areas of concern. Several reviewers report dangerously slow or absent responses to call buttons (one specifically mentions a 30-minute response time), and claim that RNs/LVNs sometimes ignore call signals. Complaints about personal hygiene and wound management are explicit: patients were reportedly not bathed properly, developed rashes and crusting between toes, and at least one resident had unresolved wound care for an extended period (reported as five years). There are also allegations that residents were left alone during meals despite choking risks, and that there were delays in surgical care and ongoing pain or injury. Bed safety is reported as lacking. Collectively, these items indicate recurrent and serious deficiencies in routine nursing care, wound management, and resident safety.

Staffing and communication issues are recurring themes. Reviewers describe poor staff communication, long hold times (presumably on family calls or administrative lines), and general unorganization. Some accounts contrast this by noting friendly or accommodating staff members and a warm initial reception from a staff member named Maryanne who greets families but then is reportedly difficult to find later. This suggests variable staff performance and possible inconsistency in management or shift-level staffing. The characterization of the facility as understaffed and poorly managed appears across reviews, and these systemic problems likely contribute to delayed responses, missed care, and poor family communication.

Management, administrative, and financial concerns also appear in the reviews. One reviewer alleges that an accountant attempted to control a resident’s accounts, raising red flags about financial oversight and resident protections. Other administrative complaints include unresolved clinical issues over long periods and delays in important care decisions (for example, delayed surgery). These points add to an impression of weak oversight and inadequate systems for protecting residents’ clinical and financial well-being.

Facilities and programming receive some positive notes: physical therapy is available and activities such as Bingo and musical programs (piano, singing, dancing) are provided, which some families and residents appreciate. The center’s location close to home is also cited as a benefit. However, these positives are often overshadowed by reports of inconsistent care and safety concerns.

Patterns and recommendations implied by the reviews: the facility appears to need immediate attention to clinical staffing levels, response protocols for call buttons, wound and skin-care practices, meal supervision for residents with swallowing risks, and medication/timing policies (noted as “meditation always late” in one review and potentially indicating timing issues). Stronger administrative controls and transparency are suggested by allegations about attempted account control and long-standing unresolved wounds. Improved communication with families, standardized handoffs, consistent supervisory presence (so initial welcoming staff remain visible or accountable), and external audits of clinical outcomes and financial safeguards would likely address many of the reported problems.

In summary, these reviews paint a picture of a facility that offers valuable programs and has caring individuals on staff, but also shows serious and repeated failures in basic nursing care, safety, communication, and management. Families considering this center should weigh the convenience and activity options against multiple reports of neglected personal care, slow emergency responses, wound-care failures, and administrative concerns, and should seek detailed answers from facility leadership about staffing ratios, call-response times, wound-care protocols, meal supervision, and financial safeguards before placement.
