    Safe, friendly, affordable rehab care

I felt safe and well cared for - staff were consistently friendly, attentive and professional, and management was responsive. The facility is clean, calm, and conveniently located across from a hospital with good transportation and activities; it's a budget-friendly option. The building is older and needs updates, rooms can be small, and meals are hit-or-miss. Overall, I would recommend it for rehab or long-term care.

    Summary review

Overall impression: Reviews for Crowne Place Assisted Living are predominantly positive, with recurring praise focused on the staff, cleanliness, affordability, and convenient location. Many reviewers emphasize that staff are friendly, caring, and attentive — including specific praise for nurses, office staff, and housekeeping. Several people said they would recommend the community, and multiple accounts note that management and administration are responsive and helpful. The facility’s low cost relative to other local options and proximity to a hospital/medical providers are frequently cited as important advantages.

Care quality and staffing: The reviews indicate consistently strong interpersonal care: staff are described as kind, professional, and involved in residents’ needs. The head nurse and staff response during the COVID pandemic received special commendation, suggesting competence in clinical protocols and crisis response. Housekeeping and day-to-day caregiving are highlighted as strengths. However, a notable recurring concern is after-hours communication — some family members felt that staff communication outside normal hours could be improved. There is also variability in reviewer experience, which suggests care quality may differ by shift, wing, or specific staff on duty.

Facilities and environment: Multiple reviewers emphasize the facility is clean and the grounds are well-manicured. Amenities called out include an onsite salon, dining room, televisions and computers in rooms, and a generally safe atmosphere for rehab stays. At the same time, several reviewers describe the community as older and in need of updates; some visitors felt it had a hospital-like or overly medical atmosphere, which may affect perceptions of homeliness. Room size is another mixed point — while some found rooms spacious and roomy, others described rooms as extremely small. Prospective residents should confirm unit sizes and view specific rooms during a tour.

Dining and activities: Dining receives mixed feedback. Several reviewers appreciated chef-prepared meals and the availability of three meals daily, while others found the meals disappointing relative to price or merely acceptable. Activities are generally portrayed positively: reviewers mention engaging activities and games and that activities “looked great.” On the downside, off-site events such as field trips were reported as not currently available, so enrichment and outings may be limited compared with some communities.

Safety and resident needs: The community is described as safe for rehab and day-to-day living by many reviewers. Nonetheless, at least one review explicitly mentioned a resident wandering the halls and noted dementia-related behavior; that raises a potential concern about how the community manages wandering or memory-care needs. Reviewers did not consistently indicate whether specialized memory care services are available, so families with members who have dementia should inquire specifically about supervision, secure wandering prevention measures, and staff training in dementia care.

Management and responsiveness: Several reviews highlight a helpful administrator and responsive management, and some reviewers were very pleased with how management handled issues and communication. These positive comments are balanced by the after-hours communication complaints and the variability across reviewers. The facility’s pricing, availability, and local scarcity of alternatives appear to drive some placements — a benefit for families needing immediate space but a factor to consider when assessing options.

Notable patterns and recommendations: Consistent strengths are staff warmth, cleanliness, affordability, and location. Consistent concerns are variable meal satisfaction, dated physical plant in places, mixed room sizes, occasional perception of a medical/hospital atmosphere, and after-hours communication gaps. There is also at least one mention of dementia-related wandering. Overall sentiment is more positive than negative, and many reviewers recommend Crowne Place; however, the mixed comments suggest variability in individual experiences.

If you are considering Crowne Place, recommended next steps based on review themes: schedule an in-person tour (inspect specific rooms for size and condition), ask for details on memory-care capabilities and wandering safeguards, request sample menus or a meal trial, clarify after-hours communication protocols and staffing ratios, and ask management about planned updates/renovations and current activity/outings schedules. These targeted questions will help corroborate the generally positive themes while addressing the specific concerns raised by reviewers.
