    Excellent care but safety lapses

I had excellent hands-on care - amazing physical therapy, compassionate nurses and staff, a clean, warm, rehab-focused facility and I would recommend Park Place for recovery. That said, I also saw troubling administrative and safety lapses: poor communication from the business office, lost belongings, bedsores, unreported falls/infections and risky discharge practices. Bottom line: superb clinical team and environment, but families should watch for serious oversight and communication issues.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive in volume: many reviewers repeatedly praise Diversicare of Park Place for compassionate, professional clinical staff, especially nurses and therapists, and for achieving measurable rehabilitation progress. Commonly noted strengths include excellent physical and occupational therapy, attentive nursing that supports activities of daily living (ADLs), and a collaborative, team-oriented approach among departments. Multiple reviewers describe the facility as clean, well maintained and homelike, with welcoming common areas and courteous administrative and support staff. Several families explicitly state they would recommend Park Place and would return there for future rehab stays.

Care quality and clinical outcomes are among the most frequently mentioned positive themes. Numerous reviews highlight impressive recovery after stroke or surgery, timely therapy interventions, and therapists and nurses who treat residents with dignity and respect. Reviewers emphasize progress in mobility and ADLs, good communication about therapy milestones, and personalized attention. Some comments go so far as to call the facility a great place to work, which can indicate strong internal culture that benefits residents. Where communication is described as clear, families reported that insurance timelines and discharge planning were handled professionally and that administration was friendly and informative.

Facility environment, amenities and staff demeanor receive consistent praise. The center is repeatedly described as beautiful, comfortable and senior-friendly. Housekeeping and maintenance appear reliable in many accounts, producing a clean and pleasant atmosphere. Reception, office staff and support personnel are often called friendly and welcoming, contributing to an overall homelike experience. Multiple reviewers thanked specific staff members by name and expressed gratitude for compassionate, family-like care.

However, there are serious and recurring negative concerns that must be considered. Several reviewers report alarming incidents including bedsores, untreated infections, alleged starvation, and accusations of elder abuse or staff being unfit for the field. Some families reported lost belongings, falls that were not documented or reported, and cases where communication broke down or staff were unreachable. A subset of reviews recounts operational failures such as no bed being available when a resident returned from the hospital, arbitrary dismissals, or administrative indifference from the business office. These issues, while less numerous than the positive comments, are severe in nature and contribute to strongly negative overall impressions from affected families.

Patterns suggest variability in experience: many families describe exemplary care and positive outcomes, while others recount serious lapses and poor communication. Some negative comments mention specific areas such as a west wing, implying that problems may be localized rather than facility-wide, or linked to particular shifts or staff assignments. Several reviews note that management issued apologies or acknowledged shortcomings in individual cases, but for some families that response was insufficient. The divergence of experiences points to inconsistent performance—high-quality care delivered reliably for many residents, but with occasional critical failures that resulted in harm or distress.

Given this mixture of strong praise and grave concerns, prospective residents and families should weigh both the frequent positive reports of compassionate, effective rehabilitation care and the less frequent but highly significant negative incidents. Recommended due diligence steps based on review themes include touring the facility in person, asking about recent quality and incident reports, inquiring how the facility handles rehospitalization and bed guarantees, clarifying communication protocols with families and the business office, and requesting references from current or recent families. In summary, Diversicare of Park Place appears capable of delivering excellent, compassionate rehab and nursing care in a clean, welcoming environment for many residents, but there are documented instances of serious lapses that warrant careful questioning and close oversight when considering placement.

Park Place - A Diversicare Nursing & Rehabilitation Center sits under Diversicare Healthcare Services, LLC, and folks call it Diversicare of Park Place, which mainly means it looks after people who need nursing, rehabilitation, and hospice care, and it does follow all rules set by the Alabama Board of Nursing and the Alabama Department of Public Health, with Ms. Quintella Crawford as the Administrator, who keeps an eye on things. The facility's really set up to serve lots of different needs, whether someone just needs a short stay for rehab after a hospital visit or requires long-term care, so there are skilled nurses, therapists, and other staff taking care of folks, and they're trained to support people dealing with tough medical problems, recovery, memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease.
