    Kind staff, beautiful home-like facility

I toured the facility and was very pleased. Staff were kind and respectful-Tiffany the manager and the floor supervisor stood out-and they treated my mom with attentive, dignified care. The building is beautiful and home-like, no shared rooms, with tasty, well-presented meals, seasonal decor, lots of activities (exercise classes and church services included). Overall a positive visit; I'm seriously considering moving my mom in.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Lakewood Senior Living–Smiths is predominantly positive, with multiple recurring themes praising staff, dining, activities, and the facility environment. Several reviewers emphasize the kindness and respectfulness of caregivers, describing treatment of residents as dignified and attentive. The small-community feel is repeatedly noted as creating a home-like atmosphere; reviewers specifically mention that there are no shared rooms, which some families value for privacy and comfort.

Staff and management receive strong positive mentions. A named manager (Tiffany) is referenced favorably, and a floor supervisor is described as being respected by both residents and staff. Reviewers report informative interactions during visits and express confidence in the personnel, with phrases like "wonderful staff," "attentive care," and "respectful staff." One reviewer noted a positive, informative visit and is considering moving a family member in, which suggests that the admissions process and initial impressions can be compelling for prospective residents.

Facility and ambiance are another consistent strength. The building is described as beautiful and decorated seasonally, contributing to a pleasant environment. The dining program is frequently praised: meals are described as tasty and well-presented, which supports resident satisfaction and suggests attention to dining quality and presentation. The absence of shared rooms, combined with a home-like setting and seasonal decorations, reinforces the image of a personalized, comfortable living space.

Activities and programming are highlighted as abundant and varied. Reviewers mention exercise classes and religious services; several comments explicitly call the community "church-centered," indicating that faith-based programming is a clear part of the offerings and likely a draw for residents seeking that orientation. Multiple references to "lots of activities" reinforce the impression of an engaged schedule intended to support physical, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

However, there is a notable, serious negative outlier: at least one review alleges poor care, neglectful staff, and lack of care for residents. This allegation contrasts sharply with the many positive accounts of attentive, dignified treatment. Because the negative comment directly addresses resident safety and basic caregiving, it represents a significant concern and should not be dismissed. The presence of both strong positive reports and a serious negative allegation suggests potential variability in care quality—either isolated incidents, time-bound problems (e.g., staff shortages during certain shifts), or possibly differing experiences among residents.

Given the mixed signals, a cautious, evidence-based approach is warranted for families considering Lakewood Senior Living–Smiths. The strengths (kind staff, attractive facility, good meals, active programming, and respected management) indicate many residents have positive experiences. At the same time, the allegation of neglect requires follow-up: ask the community for recent state inspection reports, staffing ratios, turnover statistics, incident/complaint history, and references from current residents or families. During an in-person visit, observe mealtimes, a staff-resident interaction, activity sessions, and a shift change if possible. Ask management about care plans, how they ensure consistent quality across shifts, and how they investigate and remediate complaints.

In summary, the dominant pattern in the reviews is positive—emphasizing respectful, attentive staff; appealing dining; active, faith-inclusive programming; and an inviting, small-community environment managed by identifiable, respected staff. Yet the single but serious comment alleging neglect introduces a nontrivial concern about consistency of care. Prospective residents and families should weigh the many positive reports against that risk and perform targeted due diligence (documentation review, reference calls, observation on-site) to confirm current care standards before making a placement decision.
