    Caring family home with activities

I placed my mom here and we've been very happy-small, family-like home with genuinely caring, professional and attentive staff. Clean, secure facility with private rooms, home-cooked meals, 24/7 care, owners involved and plenty of activities (art/painting); I would definitely recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Casa de Sonshine Assisted Living is described across reviews as a small, tightly knit assisted living home that emphasizes personalized attention. The facility's small census and hands-on owner involvement appear to be central strengths: reviewers consistently mention a family-like, peaceful environment, individualized caregiving, and frequent recommendations from families. Cleanliness and upkeep are frequently noted, and the property features an outdoor patio with desert landscaping that residents and families find pleasant.

Care quality and staffing are presented positively. Multiple accounts highlight certified, compassionate staff who provide assistance with activities of daily living and dementia-capable care; a nurse-on-call arrangement and medical-management support are also mentioned. Several families emphasize the owners' active presence and the staff's attentiveness, which contribute to a sense that residents are "in good hands." The small staff-to-resident ratio is associated with personalized attention and an emotionally supportive atmosphere.

Dining and household services are strengths. Reviewers describe home-cooked meals with a varied menu and the ability for residents to choose meals such as breakfast options. Housekeeping and laundry services are provided and the food quality is characterized as good. The home-like kitchen approach and family-style meals appear to be important contributors to resident satisfaction.

Activity programming receives mixed feedback. Some accounts describe a lively schedule with arts, painting, and other engaging activities that enhance residents' daily experience; others indicate that activity options can be limited or variable. This suggests programming is present and sometimes meaningful, but may not consistently meet the engagement preferences of all residents. Families looking for robust, diverse activity schedules should confirm current offerings during a tour.

Facility features and operational patterns include strengths and trade-offs typical of a small home. Private bedrooms are available, but bathrooms are shared, which may affect privacy expectations. Transportation appears to be primarily family-managed rather than provided by the facility, so reliance on family transport should be anticipated. The small size contributes to personalized care but also limits accommodation choices and may not suit residents who prefer larger, more institutional settings. Finally, while many reviewers describe a home-like atmosphere, others perceive the ambiance differently, indicating some variability in how "homey" the environment feels.

In summary, Casa de Sonshine projects a consistent emphasis on individualized, compassionate care in a clean, well-maintained small-home setting with home-cooked meals and active owner involvement. Prospective residents and families should weigh the benefits of personalized attention and dementia-capable support against operational limits such as shared bathrooms, variable activity programming, limited facility transportation, and the constraints inherent to a small facility. A visit focused on current activity schedules, bathroom arrangements, and transportation options is recommended to assess fit for specific needs and preferences.

About Casa de Sonshine Assisted Living

Casa de Sonshine Assisted Living sits in a quiet neighborhood of Green Valley, Arizona, at 18292 S Camino De Paez, and the 10-resident home sits on a full acre of land, giving everyone room to enjoy the outdoors, with a back patio that's good for birdwatching and mountain views of the Santa Ritas that look very nice on clear days. The facility has both private and semi-private rooms, which you can get furnished or unfurnished, and the rooms are all handicap-equipped with shared bathrooms nearby. Residents get help with medication, personal care, incontinence, diabetes care and training, and services like catheter or colostomy care as needed. The staff is always present, and there's a real effort to personalize care as folks' needs change, so they don't have to move again. Since it's a Board and Care Home, the atmosphere feels homelike and community-oriented with a small group, and the staff and residents get to know each other well. The meals are home-cooked and changed up often for variety, and meals are eaten together in the communal dining area. Social activities like Yahtzee, bingo, and board games bring people together.

Casa de Sonshine Assisted Living is close to hospitals, doctor offices, pharmacies, and places of worship, so health needs or spiritual needs are met without much travel. The facility provides complimentary transportation for errands or appointments. Restaurants and parks are close by, so everyone who enjoys getting out can do so easily. The home allows cats and dogs, which means residents' pets are welcome, within reason, and there's a no-smoking rule inside indoor areas, though smoking is allowed in designated places. The facility offers both respite care and hospice services, and there's memory care for folks with dementia or Alzheimer's. People who need help with daily tasks, but want to hold on to their independence and choice, get the extra support they need, whether it's reminders for medications or help getting around. Staff members, who speak English, are available every hour of the day, seven days a week, to answer questions or provide help. Medicare-Certified Home Health Care is offered, and Adult Day Services are also available, so family can have peace of mind when they're away.

Rated highly and with BBB accreditation at an A+ rating, the facility has been serving Green Valley since August 2019 and falls under a Limited Liability Company managed by Ms. Alisha Jessie and Ms. Esther Macias, both owners. The place emphasizes dignity and respects the independence of residents, with a focus on support that increases as needs change, while making everyone feel safe and at home. Residents choose from a variety of care options, including active adult living, memory care, long-term care or skilled nursing. Casa de Sonshine Assisted Living helps seniors live comfortably without feeling like they're in an institution, instead creating an environment where everyone knows each other, and where the needs and preferences of each person are valued.
