    Smooth move, compassionate expert care

I moved my father to Highgate and am very pleased - bright, clean, hotel-like rooms and a beautiful, homey facility. Isabelle and her team (nurses, CarePartners and activities staff) are compassionate, attentive and expert in memory care; the move was smooth, meds and care are timely, there are plentiful activities and outings, and our family has real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

Highgate Senior Living – Prescott is consistently praised for the quality of interpersonal care and the strength of its memory-care programming. Many families describe staff as kind, attentive and relationship-focused; caregivers and nursing staff are frequently credited with individualized routines, dementia‑friendly strategies, and rapid social integration for new residents. The community's leadership and frontline team are often noted as accessible and communicative, and the presence of on-site nursing coverage contributes to a sense of safety and continuity of clinical care.

The facility's physical environment and activity program are strong selling points. Reviewers describe a bright, well‑appointed, resort‑like setting with tasteful common areas, an onsite movie theatre, salon/spa, bistro and pleasant outdoor courtyard spaces. The programming schedule is active and varied—exercise classes, daily walks, bingo, crafts, guest speakers, and regular bus trips to cultural and shopping destinations—which supports resident engagement and improved mood for many residents.

Dining receives mixed but generally favorable feedback. Several reviewers praise colorful, balanced meals and servers who accommodate dietary restrictions and remember preferences; standout servers are singled out for elevating the dining experience. At the same time, accounts indicate variability in meal quality, pacing and texture—some meals have been described as underseasoned or inconsistently prepared, and food-service speed can be slow at times. Prospective residents should review current menus, meal times and special-diet procedures during a visit.

Operationally, the most consistent concerns relate to workforce stability and service consistency. High staff turnover and intermittent staffing shortages are associated with delays in responses to call lights, inconsistent housekeeping/laundry handling (missing or improperly laundered items), and occasional maintenance lapses. A smaller set of comments raise medication‑management and administrative issues, including specific medication-handling inconsistencies and occasional billing or accounts-receivable errors. Security measures such as alarmed exits are in place for resident safety; some families view those measures as restrictive and recommend discussing exit/visitation policies in advance.

Overall, Highgate Prescott appears to deliver strong person-centered and memory-care services within an attractive physical environment, making it a reasonable fit for families prioritizing dementia expertise, active programming and a small, family-like community. Those considering the community should ask targeted operational questions during a tour: current staffing ratios and turnover trends, medication administration protocols, laundry and personal-property procedures, billing and dispute-resolution processes, transportation schedules, and examples of how the facility handles staffing shortfalls to maintain consistent care. This will help clarify whether the community’s strengths align with a prospective resident’s clinical needs and family expectations.
