    Great staff worried about owner

I chose this small, home-style board-and-care despite a few red flags. My mom hated the owner, Dona - she was once sent to the hospital by ambulance with no one with her, and I had serious concerns about the owner's dementia care claims. That said, the full-time professional staff (Dana RN, A.C.E. team and nurse administrator) were outstanding: attentive, loving, communicative, clean, and treated my mom like family - they even made my dad's 90th magical. The staff gave me real peace of mind and I highly recommend the care team, but be cautious about the owner/management.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive about day-to-day caregiving, the residential atmosphere, and the hands-on nursing staff, but there is a recurring and significant concern tied to management/ownership that should not be overlooked. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the caregivers and nursing staff are compassionate, attentive, and treat residents like family. Specific praise is given to the RN-led care (Dana is named positively in the reviews) and to the broader ACE staff for providing top-priority care, going above and beyond, and creating a home-like, intimate environment. Reviewers highlight full-time staffing, a clean and well-maintained home, and professional behavior from staff that contributes to family members feeling reassured and grateful. The facility also appears to offer a board-and-care/Home and Board option that reviewers appreciated, along with fair pricing and clear communication from a nurse administrator which several reviewers cite as giving them peace of mind.

Care quality and daily life are the most consistently lauded aspects. Reviewers repeatedly note that residents feel comfortable, are well-supported, and enjoy frequent activities that keep the environment lively and social. There are anecdotes of personalized attention and family-style celebrations (a 90th birthday celebration was described as “magic”), which reinforce the impression of individualized, family-oriented care. Cleanliness and maintenance are frequently mentioned, as is the professionalism of staff — all suggesting the facility succeeds in providing a warm, residential alternative to larger institutional settings.

Management and leadership present a mixed picture. While the nurse administrator and some elements of management receive praise for clear communication and attentiveness, a distinct and serious pattern of concern centers on the owner (named Dona in the reviews). Several comments indicate the owner was disliked by at least one resident’s family, and there are specific, alarming allegations such as the owner sending a resident to the hospital by ambulance without a staff member accompanying them and failures in dementia care despite claims to the contrary. Reviewers also referenced initial "red flags" when selecting the facility. These are critical issues because they relate to resident safety, emergency procedures, and the facility’s ability to manage complex needs (such as dementia) reliably. Even though many reviewers separated their positive view of frontline staff from their criticisms of the owner, that distinction suggests potential inconsistency in leadership or accountability that families should investigate further.

Notably absent from the reviews are detailed comments about dining quality, specific clinical outcomes beyond the ambulance incident, or systematic information about staff training and turnover rates; reviewers focus most on interpersonal care, environment, activities, and isolated management concerns. In summary, the predominant narrative is one of very good day-to-day caregiving in a small, comfortable home with caring staff and meaningful family engagement, coupled with a troubling management/ownership issue regarding the owner’s conduct and dementia-care reliability. Prospective residents and families should weigh the strong, positive reports about caregiving and atmosphere against the serious management-related concerns, and consider asking direct questions about dementia care protocols, emergency accompaniment policies, and who makes clinical decisions during tours or intake conversations.

    About Advanced Care for Elderly

Advanced Care for Elderly sits in a quiet Anaheim neighborhood, close to hospitals and clinics, which makes it convenient for residents when they need medical care, and you'll see that it's a small home, only taking care of up to six people at a time, so there's always a good bit of attention for everyone, and the staff includes a Registered Nurse with over twenty years of experience in working with seniors, plus a second administrator who knows a lot about behavior and counseling, so the care's pretty steady all day and night. Residents get help with basic daily things like bathing, dressing, and moving around, and when someone needs it, there's medication management, incontinence care, special support for dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, diabetes, stroke rehab, and even hospice when it's needed, and there's extra services like reminders for medication, observation for any side effects, plus checkups from a house doctor and a podiatrist.

The community's set up to be comfortable and homelike, with private furnished rooms and a big, secure backyard where people can walk or garden if they want to, and everyone eats meals made from scratch in the gourmet kitchen, with options for special diets like diabetes or allergies, and meals happen in a shared dining room so there's plenty of company. There are scheduled daily activities like movie nights, social gatherings, community events, and homeowners handle things like laundry, housekeeping, and transportation-with free rides included-to help people get around or get to appointments.

Language support's available in English, and everything's wheelchair accessible, making it easier for folks who need a little help getting around. There's a big focus on making sure people feel safe and cared for, with staff treating everyone like family and offering one-on-one support, and the no-smoking rule keeps the home clean and healthy. Emergency alert systems are there for quick help if someone needs it. While there aren't dozens of people like at big facilities, this place offers a more personal touch, with care plans tailored to what each resident needs day to day, and with all help taking place in a home setting, it feels more like a regular house than a medical building. With 24-hour supervision and individualized care, Advanced Care for Elderly aims to provide a calm, friendly space for seniors who want some assistance but still want a sense of home and community.
