I'm very pleased with Harbor Heights - the place is clean, safe and completely remodeled, with a bright dining room, lovely patio and plenty of activities. The food is tasty and nutritious, admission was quick and reasonably priced, and the staff (April, Christine, Elka, Steve, Alex and the rest of the team) are kind, attentive and compassionate; Christine keeps us updated with photos. I feel well cared for and would definitely recommend it to others.

Summary of reviews
Harbor Heights presents a mixed but instructive profile for prospective residents and families. It is a mid-sized community (around 199 residents at roughly 75% occupancy) that advertises an all-inclusive pricing structure covering meals, utilities, and weekly linen service, with on-site amenities such as a beauty salon and a memory-care program. Several reviewers describe recent, extensive remodeling that has produced bright, updated common areas, a pleasant dining room, and outdoor courtyard/patio spaces that contribute positively to resident quality of life.
Care and staff performance elicit sharply divergent impressions. A substantial number of comments praise warm, compassionate, family-like staff and name specific employees and a director as attentive and communicative; families cite individualized attention, quick admissions, and assistance with insurance and placement. At the same time, other families reported concerns about staff conduct, variable responsiveness, and instances of unprepared or unfriendly interactions. This indicates variability in staff behavior and communication that prospective families should assess directly during a visit.
Dining and activities are generally highlighted as strengths. Multiple reviewers commented that meals are tasty and nutritious, with the dining area and coffee receiving positive mention. The community provides organized activities and memory-care programming that several residents and families found engaging. These elements appear to be consistent selling points, particularly after the facility’s renovation.
Facility condition shows contrasts between renovated areas and sections needing attention. While remodeled units, bright rooms, and clean dining/common areas are noted, reviewers also raised sanitation concerns and odor concerns in particular hallways or sections. Specific operational issues cited include small room sizes, bathrooms configured with standard bathtubs and non-raised toilets that may be challenging for residents with mobility limitations, and locked restrooms in some locations that affect accessibility. Maintenance gaps and intermittent attention to certain parts of the building were also mentioned, as were pest-control concerns in some areas — all of which merit routine inspection and clarification of maintenance/pest-control protocols.
Management and operational stability have been a focal point. Several families describe a turnaround after a change in ownership or management, praising improved leadership and service; however, other accounts characterize ongoing leadership inconsistency or unclear management responses. Taken together, these comments point to a transitional organization where improvements have been made but where performance may still depend on current leadership and staffing stability.
Notable patterns for a visiting family: the facility offers many of the practical conveniences families look for (all-inclusive billing options, on-site memory care, laundry service, and activities), and its renovated areas and caring staff are frequently praised. At the same time, prospective residents should verify cleanliness and pest-control measures, inspect restroom/bathroom accessibility relative to mobility needs, and evaluate staff interactions firsthand. Asking for recent inspection records, pest-control logs, staffing ratios, and a tour of both renovated and less-updated areas will help clarify whether Harbor Heights’ recent improvements align with an individual resident’s needs.

About Harbor Heights
Harbor Heights sits in Anaheim, California, serving seniors 55 and older with a range of care including independent living, assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing, and respite care, so you'll find a place whether you're active or you need daily help. Residents can pick an apartment that fits their needs, with both private and welcoming spaces, and the place allows some pets if people want a little extra company, which is nice to see since a pet can brighten a place up. Harbor Heights works to help people settle in, with orientation help, personalized apartment setup, and even an apartment-warming event so new faces can meet neighbors, maybe make a friend or just feel a bit more at home, and aides help residents get used to the daily routines.
There's a big focus on community since folks can join in on regular events, outings, and activities listed on a community calendar, and the staff encourages everyone to participate to help people get to know each other, and there's a TV room for socializing, a game room, regular art classes with Grace, and community forums for sharing and talking openly. The dining hall feels open and friendly, with three meals a day, family and friends welcome for meals, and kitchen or kitchenette options in some apartments for anyone who likes being a little independent, and the cooks pay attention to dietary needs so meals work for everybody. If health concerns come up, there's a nursing team, podiatry visits, and personal care services for things like bathing, grooming, and help with medication; plus, the building is licensed, with safety and accessibility features like sprinkler systems and handicap accommodations, so families get some peace of mind.
Harbor Heights offers both indoor and outdoor common areas, housekeeping and laundry services, Wi-Fi and cable TV, and a fitness center plus a salon and barbershop right onsite. There's parking for guests and residents, transportation for doctor visits or trips, and a no-smoking policy indoors. Memory care residents can count on extra support with activities, medication, and personal care, and the staff builds personalized care plans, so folks get help that fits what they need, and escorts help residents get to meals and activities safely. The executive director at Harbor Heights and the aides are described as treating residents like family, and there's a real sense that people look out for one another, which adds to the caring atmosphere that folks notice when they visit. Renovations are underway, focusing on a homelike and hotel-like style so things feel bright and comfortable, and Millennium Security helps make sure everyone's safe.
Harbor Heights keeps things simple for new residents, offering downsizing tips and moving advice, and there's a connect tool on the web platform for setting up assessments, so the move-in goes as smoothly as possible. No matter what level of care is needed, from independent living to full nursing support, everything's designed to make daily life easier, safer, and more comfortable. Residents get choices when it comes to activities, with health and wellness programs, arts and crafts, spiritual services onsite and nearby, and both onsite and offsite outings, and folks are encouraged to stay active and social if they want to be. Harbor Heights stands out for mixing social engagement, compassionate care, and a sense of community, all managed right near local hospitals and attractions, so people can settle in and feel supported as they move through this stage of life.
