    Attentive Alzheimer's care, clean, pricey

I've been very pleased with the excellent, attentive care here - Bernie and Luz especially - and the consistent grooming, showers and clothes changes. Meals are enjoyable (portions can be large), the place is very clean and odor-free, residents are safe and comfortable with outdoor time when weather permits, and they clearly know Alzheimer's care. Communication can be hampered by accents and it's a bit pricey, but I feel grateful for the caring staff and overall good value.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing high-quality, attentive caregiving and consistently favorable visits. The most frequently cited strengths are the hands-on aspects of daily care—specific tasks such as haircuts, showers, and clothing changes are repeatedly noted—which suggests reliable personal care routines. Reviewers also repeatedly describe staff as caring and attentive, and two employees (Bernie and Luz) received direct praise, indicating standout individuals who contribute to the facility's favorable reputation.

Care quality and clinical suitability are highlighted, particularly for residents with memory care needs. Several reviewers explicitly mention Alzheimer’s expertise, and overall comments point to a sense of resident safety and comfort. The combination of trained dementia care and attentive day-to-day assistance creates a strong impression that the facility can meet higher-acuity and specialized needs while maintaining routine personal care standards.

Facility conditions are reported as very good: reviewers describe the environment as clean and odor-free, with a comfortable atmosphere. Cleanliness and lack of odors are repeatedly mentioned, which supports the perception of good housekeeping and infection-control practices. The availability of outdoor time when weather permits is noted positively and contributes to resident well-being; however, outdoor time appears to be weather-dependent rather than a structured, year-round activity offering.

Dining receives generally positive comments — residents are said to enjoy the meals — but a specific concern about portion sizes being too large appears in the reviews. That suggests the food quality is acceptable and enjoyable, while portion control or customization for residents with smaller appetites could be an area for attention. There is no mention of dietary problems or food safety issues; the feedback is narrowly focused on portion size.

Pricing and perceived value show a mostly favorable pattern but with a minor inconsistency. Several reviewers call the facility affordable and a good value, while one review describes the pricing as “a little high.” This indicates that, for most visitors, cost aligns with expectations for the level of care and cleanliness provided, but perceptions of affordability may vary depending on individual budget constraints or comparisons to other local options.

The most notable operational concern raised across the summaries is a communication challenge attributed to staff accent. Reviewers specifically mention that an accent affected communication, which can have practical implications for family-staff interactions, care planning, and the resident experience if information is misunderstood. This should be weighed alongside the otherwise positive comments about attentiveness; the issue appears to be about clarity rather than staff attitude or competence.

In summary, the reviews portray Sheila's Crystal Care Home III as a well-kept, compassionate facility with strong strengths in daily personal care, dementia-capable staffing, and a clean, comfortable environment. Meals are enjoyed by residents though portion sizes may need adjustment for some individuals. The main areas for improvement are clearer communication with families and residents (addressing accent-related comprehension issues) and potentially expanding or formalizing activities beyond weather-dependent outdoor time. Pricing is generally seen as reasonable, with one divergent view, so prospective families may want to compare costs locally while prioritizing the facility’s clear strengths in care and environment.
