    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the provided review summaries is generally positive, with multiple reviewers highlighting strong interpersonal care and a warm, home-like atmosphere. The most consistent strengths noted are related to staff behavior and the environment: reviewers describe the atmosphere as uplifting, staff as approachable and communicative, and the company as having created a loving home. At least one resident explicitly reports being very happy and having lived at the facility since April, which reinforces the positive impressions of satisfaction and continuity for some residents.

Staff-related themes dominate the reviews. Several summaries emphasize active staff involvement in daily life at the facility — staff not only assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) but also engage residents in planned activities and participate alongside them both inside and outside the facility. Phrases such as "staff go above and beyond" and "staff are amazing" indicate that, for many reviewers, the caregiving team is attentive, hands-on, and emotionally invested in residents' well-being. These comments point to strong person-centered care, easy access to staff for conversation, and staff willingness to support residents beyond basic needs.

However, there are notable contradictions and concerns that suggest variability in resident experience. While several reviews praise active programming and staff engagement, at least one review reports "no activities for residents" and explicitly calls staff "uncaring." Facility condition concerns are minimal but specific: a broken pool table is mentioned. Taken together, these negatives indicate that programming and staff demeanor may be inconsistent — some residents experience frequent engagement and supportive care, while at least one reviewer experienced a lack of activities and perceived indifference from staff.

Facilities and activities show a mixed picture. Positive comments about staff participation in activities imply that meaningful social and recreational programming exists in some cases. Yet the direct complaint about "no activities" and the broken pool table point to gaps in recreation maintenance and/or scheduling. This suggests that while the intent and staff capability to run activities may be present, implementation or maintenance of recreational resources and consistency of programming may vary over time or between staff shifts.

On management and corporate culture, reviewers use strong positive language: "company is amazing" and "creates a loving home for residents." These statements suggest that organizational values and leadership have contributed to a caring atmosphere for many residents. At the same time, the presence of a report describing uncaring staff highlights a potential disconnect between stated values and every-resident experience, or simply isolated staffing issues that could benefit from review.

There is no information in the provided summaries about dining, medical care specifics, pricing, or turnover, so no conclusions can be drawn about those aspects. The most salient pattern is a predominance of praise for staff and environment alongside isolated but significant concerns about activity availability, staff attitude in at least one instance, and a specific maintenance issue (broken pool table). In summary, Center Street Board and Care appears to offer a warm, resident-focused environment with many staff who are engaged and compassionate, but there are signs of inconsistency that management may need to address to ensure all residents receive the same level of programming, maintenance, and attentiveness.

About Center Street Board and Care

Center Street Board and Care sits at 2451 Center St in Bakersfield, CA 93306, and has 18 beds for seniors needing a little help in their daily lives, and it's a good fit for people who want to keep some independence, though they need support with things like bathing, dressing, mobility, or taking their medicine, and some residents may just be there for a short respite stay while others settle in long-term. The building has one floor and was built in 2018, with open outdoor parking out front, and you'll find both shared rooms and common spaces for group meals and activities. Meals are cooked to order and can be made to fit different diets, including pureed foods, thick liquids, or specific health needs, and trays can be taken to rooms for those who want it, with nutrition as a focus so residents get enough to eat and drink. There's always a caregiver on duty, and the staff can help with hygiene, changing clothes, oral care, using the bathroom, medicine reminders, and help with urinary incontinence, plus there's help for those who need cueing and redirection.

You'll see that the place is licensed by the State-actually, with license numbers 157209319 and 157209320 on file and they've got safety and health inspections, and this means there are certain rules and training in place for those working with the seniors. The community also coordinates medical tests and can help arrange outside health services like physical therapy, home health, or even hospice when it's needed, and they do cater to special medical needs like diabetic, psychiatric, and bariatric care. Folks who live there have access to transportation for medical appointments, which takes some pressure off families worrying about how to get to doctors, and there are social activities every day, inside games and art studio time, and organized outings so people can see more than just their four walls.

Some pets are allowed, so residents don't always have to leave a pet friend behind when they move in, though it's best to check the policy ahead of time since there are rules about which pets can stay. The fees start at $1,398 a month for assisted living-though it can vary depending on what someone needs-and the rent is all-inclusive, which means no hidden fees for meals, housekeeping, or care services. The home accepts different forms of payment, including checks, credit cards, insurance, Medicaid, and participation in the Medi-Cal Assisted Living Waiver Program, but, unless certified by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Medicare doesn't pay for the care here. There's onsite property management and maintenance, and they keep things working and safe, along with personal attention and service plans tailored for each resident-not a one-size-fits-all approach-so everyone gets the type of care that makes sense for them. There aren't any online reviews yet for Center Street Board and Care, but the focus here is on a comfortable, homelike setting where older adults can get the right level of help, nutritious meals, daily activities, and peace of mind for themselves and their families, all in a modest, hands-on setting in Bakersfield.
