    Friendly staff, spacious rooms, dated

I'm very happy here - the director and staff are kind, patient and genuinely caring; they were proactive during flu season and easy to work with. Rooms are spacious, tidy and home-like, and the yard/outside is excellent. The interior is dated and needs painting, new flooring and minor repairs, and the backyard/seating could use cleaning and trimming. Food and communication can be hit-or-miss, but overall I'm satisfied with the care and would recommend this facility.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive with strong and consistent praise for staff and care quality. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the staff are patient, caring, compassionate and experienced; several explicitly say staff are helpful, kind and easy to work with. The facility director is mentioned positively as attentive and accommodating, and there are multiple comments that staff understand residents' needs and provide 24/7 support. Specific care-related strengths include attentive communication in many cases and proactive medical attention (for example, during a flu outbreak), which reviewers pointed out as evidence of good oversight and responsiveness.

Physical facilities and maintenance emerge as the clearest and most frequent areas of concern. Multiple reviewers describe the interior as dated or run-down and note specific issues such as peeling/dirty walls, worn carpeting, thin upholstery on seating, and needed repairs to door facings. Several comments suggest replacing flooring and giving the facility a fresh paint job. Outdoor impressions are mixed: some reviewers praise an excellent yard or outside space, while others say the backyard needs cleaning, bushes require trimming, and cobwebs have not been removed. Taken together, these reports point to a facility that is functional and pleasant in parts but would benefit from a focused maintenance and cleaning effort.

Dining and activities show inconsistent experiences across reviewers. Some residents appreciate organized activities such as bingo and daily exercise assistance, while at least one reviewer explicitly says there were no activities offered. Food quality also divides opinion: several reviews praise the overall care and satisfaction, but at least one reviewer disliked the food. These mixed signals suggest that programming and meal quality may vary by time, staff on duty, or individual expectations, producing uneven experiences for different residents or family members.

Communication and management receive mainly positive remarks but are not uniformly praised. Several reviewers say communication is attentive and that the director cares about people, which contributes to family members feeling comfortable. However, there is at least one report of communication issues and a reviewer who would not recommend the facility. This indicates that while management practices are strong for many families, there are instances where information flow or responsiveness falls short.

In summary, Calloway Gardens is frequently recommended by reviewers for its strong caregiving staff, compassionate and experienced personnel, and a home-like atmosphere with clean, spacious rooms. The most consistent negative themes are related to building upkeep and housekeeping—paint, carpets, flooring, upholstery and some outdoor maintenance—and inconsistencies in dining and activity offerings. If prospective residents or family members prioritize caregiver quality and personal attention, these reviews suggest the facility performs well. If up-to-date interiors, consistently high dining standards, or a uniformly maintained environment are top priorities, the mixed reports about maintenance and programming are important to consider.

    About Calloway Gardens

Calloway Gardens offers assisted living and memory care in a place that feels like home, and people can find both garden spaces and the comforts of new, modern construction here, with rooms that have wheelchair accessible showers, wide hallways, and easy access to the outdoors. Residents live in small groups so they get individual attention, and staff members are well-trained, friendly, and always around to help with things like dressing, bathing, or moving about, because the main goal is for each person to get help when they need it and still keep as much independence as possible, no matter how much support they need. There's a focus on personalized care plans and special programs for seniors with memory care needs, with support available around the clock and a nurse on site for 12 to 16 hours every day, so someone is always there to check in, answer questions, or assist in emergencies thanks to the 24-hour call system. Medical services meet a range of health needs, including non-ambulatory care, incontinence care, and services for people with higher care requirements, plus there's hospice care if a resident needs it. Social, educational, and recreational activities are planned so folks have something to look forward to and ways to stay connected with each other, and the staff encourages residents to help themselves as much as they are able, because everyone's contributions are valued. The garden spaces outside offer a spot to relax or visit, and inside the community stays warm, calm, and welcoming for everyone living there.
