    Excellent care and improved services

I'm very pleased with the turnaround at Parkview under the new administrator - welcoming, responsive, even reachable by personal number. The nursing and caregiving staff are kind, compassionate, and attentive; rehab/PT was outstanding and got my dad off his cane. Food has improved, activities (bingo, lotería, parties) are fantastic, and the facility is clean and well-managed. Overall I'm very satisfied and would happily recommend Parkview to families.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for Parkview Julian Nursing & Rehab are highly polarized, with distinct clusters of very positive and very negative experiences. Positive accounts emphasize compassionate, attentive caregivers — including multiple nurses and CNAs who were specifically named — and successful rehabilitation outcomes such as effective physical and cardiac therapy that led to measurable improvement for some residents. Many families praised the activities program (bingo, loteria, social events), noted a warm, family-like atmosphere, and reported that common areas felt welcoming and clean. Several reviewers also credited recent management and administrative changes with prompt responsiveness, improved food quality, and better overall organization.

At the same time, a substantial number of reviews raise operational concerns that recur across multiple accounts. The most consistent issues relate to staffing and responsiveness: reviewers described long waits for assistance, unaddressed call lights, and nurses appearing overtasked. Medication delays and weaknesses in medication administration and follow-up were described separately from issues with clinical oversight, including wound prevention and timely escalation of clinical changes. There are also reports of problems managing residents' personal belongings and laundry, as well as cohesion gaps between the facility and outside clinicians or family members during discharge and clinical incidents.

Communication and access are another mixed area. While some families described administrators as accessible and helpful, others experienced poor phone connectivity to the nurse station, difficulty reaching supervision at the front desk, and privacy concerns when staff discussed resident matters in public. Language-proficiency barriers among portions of the direct-care staff were noted and cited as a contributor to miscommunication. Sanitation and odor control received contradictory assessments: some reviewers called the facility clean and pleasantly maintained, while others expressed concerns about odors and general cleanliness in certain areas.

A notable pattern is the variability tied to management changes. Several reviews state a clear improvement after ownership or administrator turnover, suggesting that quality is sensitive to leadership and staffing stability. Conversely, there are serious claims — including allegations of significant clinical events and threatened legal action — that warrant attention; these are distinct from the operational patterns and point to the need for prospective families to verify current regulatory status and incident follow-up procedures. In summary, Parkview Julian exhibits strengths in individualized caregiving, rehab services, and activities, but also demonstrates inconsistent operational performance in staffing, clinical oversight, communication, and property management. Families considering this facility should arrange an in-person tour, ask about current staffing ratios, wound-prevention protocols, medication-administration safeguards, laundry/property controls, language-assistance capabilities, and recent regulatory or quality-improvement actions.
