The Rehabilitation Center of Bakersfield focuses on helping seniors get better and keep their dignity as they age, and you'll see they work with people from many different backgrounds, always aiming to lift up those who need a little more help. This place specializes in skilled nursing, which means trained nurses and therapists handle important care like managing medications, taking care of wounds, helping with orthopedic problems, and supporting those with diabetes. They offer both short-term and long-term stays and provide care all day and night, so there's always someone available if you need anything. Folks there get help with physical therapy and occupational therapy, and the team tries to match services to fit each person, no matter if they need inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation. They believe in taking care of a person's body and mind, as well as their spirit, working with each person in a way that fits them best. The staff sticks to a team-based approach, always working together for the best results, and they do their best to stay gentle and respectful at all times. The building has some comfortable spaces and offers special services meant to help people feel engaged and enjoy themselves, because recreation and social time matter, too. People often say the place feels therapeutic, but also pretty comfortable, like someone thought about what would make a stay a bit easier and less stressful, creating a good balance of care and kindness for everyone who stays there.

Understaffed unsafe care, medication errors
I was hopeful at admission, but the early good impression didn't last. Staff were often rude, lazy, and unresponsive to call bells; medication errors/possible overmedication and delayed care led to hospitalization and serious decline. A handful of nurses, CNAs and therapists were compassionate and rehab could be helpful, but management was defensive, unaccountable, and communication was poor. Mixed cleanliness and food aside, understaffing and unsafe practices mean I cannot recommend this facility.
