    Calm affordable RN-led care option

I toured this small, RN-led community for my dad and liked the kind, attentive staff (administrator Evangeline was organized and caring), clean and spacious facility, serene neighborhood, and clearly good medical care at a very reasonable rate. My concerns were poor/skimpy meals, limited activities, and a noticeable number of residents who smoke. Overall I'd recommend it as a calm, well-run, affordable option if the food and smoking issue aren't deal-breakers.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is predominantly positive about clinical care, staff attentiveness, cleanliness, and the facility’s atmosphere, with several consistent strengths noted alongside a few recurring concerns.

Care quality and medical oversight are repeatedly highlighted as strong points. Multiple reviewers explicitly describe the facility as RN-led and praise attentive, high-quality care from staff. Comments emphasize that caregivers are knowledgeable, hardworking, and kind; one reviewer specifically named the administrator (Evangeline) as organized and caring. These remarks suggest a clinical leadership and staff culture that prioritize resident health and safety.

Staff and service receive generally high marks, with numerous reviewers describing staff as attentive, well-organized, and pleasant during tours or stays. The facility is described as small and safe, fostering a cozy, warm, and elegant ambiance that many find appealing. Several reviewers noted clean, spacious rooms and communal areas, and the location is frequently called excellent within a quiet, serene neighborhood. Financially, the facility is perceived as reasonably priced with transparent billing practices—several reviewers mentioned reasonable or very reasonable rates and no hidden fees.

Facilities and environment are strengths: cleanliness, spaciousness, and an elegant, warm atmosphere are consistently reported. The neighborhood is repeatedly described as quiet and serene, supporting the impression of a calm living environment suitable for residents seeking a peaceful setting.

Dining and activities are the most notable areas of concern. Several reviewers reported poor meal quality and insufficient portion sizes, indicating that dining may not meet expectations for all residents. Activity programming received mixed feedback: some reviewers praised well-organized, enjoyable activities, while others reported limited activities and expressed resident dissatisfaction. This split suggests variability in programming quality or inconsistent delivery over time or between different groups of residents.

Management and organization show a generally positive trend but with some inconsistencies. While the administrator is praised by name in at least one review and multiple reviewers cited organized operations, there are also accounts of disorganization — for example, a visitor who saw a room but found "nothing organized" and staff who were unable to answer questions. These contrasting reports indicate that while leadership and many staff members are effective, there may be gaps in communication, training, or consistency of service on certain visits or shifts.

Another clear concern is the reported high prevalence of smoking among residents. This is a repeated point and may affect air quality, comfort, and suitability for prospective residents who are sensitive to smoke. It could also reflect community culture that may not align with everyone’s preferences.

In summary, Camelot Residential Homes appears to excel in clinical care, staff compassion, cleanliness, and atmosphere, with good value and a desirable location. Prospective residents and families should be aware of reported weaknesses: meal quality, variability in activities, some inconsistencies in organization and responsiveness, and a noticeable smoking presence among residents. These issues merit direct questions during tours (for example, ask about dining menus/portions, daily activity schedules, smoking policies, and whom to contact about specific organizational concerns) to verify current conditions and consistency before making placement decisions.

    About Camelot Residential Homes

Camelot Residential Homes sits in a calm Bellflower neighborhood and holds a state license, number 198205266, with space for up to 20 residents, and there's always staff around to help day and night, especially with things like bathing, getting dressed, managing medicine, and helping those with mobility challenges or who use wheelchairs, while you'll find rooms you can decorate yourself with your own things so it feels homier, and folks here can count on three homemade meals a day with special diets handled for diabetes or high blood pressure, plus people always mention the food. Residents have choices for daily activities-movie nights, fitness classes, music, art, reading in the library, and organized outings, plus a computer room, a garden patio for outdoor relaxation, sauna or hot tub, community event spaces, and even a salon with visit options from a mobile or in-house stylist, and the staff really keeps up with keeping the place clean, helping with laundry, and giving that little bit of extra effort, especially for people with oxygen needs or MS. Transportation is available for medical appointments, running errands, or going to church, and the place makes it easy to get to places like Kaiser Permanente and pharmacies nearby, which is handy, and the price sits at about $4,513 a month, a bit below the local average, and there's a good amount of positive comments with a 7.3 community score from residents and reviewers. The care covers assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, respite service for short stays, and hospice for end-of-life, all organized with a focus on residents' comfort, wellness, and safety, and there's always staff around for unplanned needs or emergencies. People can join wellness and social programs to help stay active and meet others, and if someone needs advice or help planning their care, the team is able to step in. The atmosphere feels close-knit and comfortable, like a medium-sized home where the staff know the residents and strive to make them feel welcome and supported, and there's always a focus on giving people as much independence as possible while helping with daily needs, so everyone can try to enjoy each day in this residential care home setting.
