    Compassionate professional rehab with music

I received attentive, professional, and compassionate care - nurses, the rehab team, social worker and administrator Rogger were responsive and treated me like family. The facility was clean, COVID-safe, and offered effective rehab, hospice involvement and music therapy, with convenient street parking. I'm grateful for the competent, friendly staff who met my needs after hip surgery and would recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewers describe a facility with clear strengths in hands-on caregiving and therapy services alongside persistent operational challenges. Care-oriented positives include numerous mentions of compassionate, respectful nurses and caregiving staff, a responsive rehabilitation team, active social work involvement, and coordinated hospice support when needed. Several families praised specific therapy offerings such as music programming and noted that residents were warmly received and treated with dignity during their stays. The facility is also cited for providing reasonable value for lower-income residents and for having pleasant outdoor space and convenient street parking.

Care quality and staff behavior present a mixed but generally favorable picture for direct care: many accounts emphasize attentive, competent, and caring staff who meet clinical and custodial needs effectively and who support postsurgical and rehabilitative recovery. At the same time, reviewers also raised concerns about inconsistency in staff presence and responsiveness; some families described delays in attending to residents or difficulty obtaining timely progress information. A small number of accounts describe more serious, individual allegations about staff conduct and sanitation that prospective families should clarify directly with facility leadership.

Dining and activities are similarly mixed. Activity offerings such as music therapy and outdoor access are described positively and contribute to residentsโ€™ engagement. Dining is characterized as institutional by some, although the facility appears to allow alternatives (ordering out), which families appreciated. Food quality was noted as variable; prospective residents who prioritize dining should discuss menu options and flexibility during a tour.

The physical plant is older and shows signs of needing maintenance and beautification: reviewers cited both ongoing beautification efforts and limitations related to aging infrastructure, including narrow wheelchair clearances in some areas. While common areas were often described as clean and welcoming, other comments point to sanitation inconsistencies and occasional housekeeping lapses. These contrasting impressions suggest variability by unit or shift rather than a uniform condition.

Management and operations are the most frequently noted weaknesses. Common themes include unreliable phone and email responsiveness, an automated voicemail system that frustrates callers, and difficulty reaching nurses or social workers for updates. Families also reported gaps in administrative follow-through (for example, delays in communicating transfers or handling packages). Noise-management and inconsistent respect for quiet hours were additional operational issues raised.

Overall, Kyakameena Care Center appears to offer solid hands-on care, rehabilitation services, and some meaningful activities, particularly valuable for families seeking affordable, therapy-focused options. However, operational gaps โ€” especially in family communication, administrative coordination, cleanliness consistency, and building accessibility โ€” are recurring themes. Recommended next steps for prospective residents and families: schedule an in-person tour to observe cleanliness and accessibility, ask for current staffing ratios and communication protocols for family updates, request examples of recent quality-improvement efforts, and speak directly with the social worker or administrator about concerns such as package handling and noise policies.
