    Compassionate staff, but unsafe management

I had a deeply mixed experience. A few nurses and staff (Maria included) were professional, compassionate, kept the place clean, and ran good activities - but overall care was inconsistent and often unacceptable: wandering/dangerous residents, three-bed rooms with no privacy, unresponsive nurses and social workers, management that wouldn't meet with me, and frequent lost/broken belongings and medication issues. I witnessed neglect (diaper problems, rashes), theft, and chaotic nights; COVID rules and visitation limits made things worse. If you need compassionate individuals, you'll find them here, but if you want reliable, safe management and consistent care, I would not recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Stoney Point Healthcare Center is highly mixed, with strong praise for compassionate individual caregivers tempered by frequent, sometimes severe concerns about consistency, safety, and management responsiveness. Many families highlight the kindness, patience, and dedication of specific RNs, CNAs, nurses, and administrative employees; these positive accounts emphasize effective dementia care, one-on-one attention, and an engaging, home-like atmosphere where residents form friendships and participate in music, dancing, games, and outdoor activities. Several reviewers explicitly recommend the facility and express gratitude for staff members who went above and beyond or acted as effective advocates.

However, alongside these positive reports are numerous and recurring negative themes. Multiple reviews describe a decline in quality after management or ownership changes, and several allege incidents serious enough to prompt state investigations. Repeated complaints include theft and loss of personal belongings (clothes, dentures), laundry mix-ups, and items given to the wrong residents. Medication problems are also reported in both directions: some reviews praise effective medication management, while others claim medication irregularities and overmedication. There are alarming allegations of CNA mistreatment, physical attacks, and night-shift safety problems that family members felt were not properly addressed by management.

Staffing and supervision appear inconsistent across shifts. Positive reviews emphasize attentive, communicative nurses and helpful administrative staff, while negative reports document inattentive staff, breaks taken inside residents’ rooms, distracting behavior at nurse stations, and language barriers that impede care. Several reviews single out social workers as unresponsive or overly focused on payment, and some families say administrators refused to meet or failed to follow up. This variability extends to cleanliness and facility condition: some visitors and families describe the environment as clean, safe, and peaceful, whereas others call the home old, dirty, loud, or chaotic.

Safety and resident management are frequent areas of concern. Reviews cite wandering or dangerous residents, insufficient staff control of aggressive behavior, and visitation or entry issues (locked doors upon arrival, unclear signage). COVID-era restrictions and changes in resident-rights procedures are mentioned as complicating care in some cases. Families also report clinical-care failures including inadequate physical therapy, neglect-like signs such as rashes, infections (including Covid transmission), frequent diaper changes due to lack of proper care, and missed medical appointments caused by transportation failures.

Dining and activities show a split picture. Several reviewers praise engaging programming, active social opportunities, and available equipment, along with at least some positive commentary on meals (especially breakfast). Other reviewers criticize meal quality as carbohydrate-heavy and nutritionally poor. Activities are often described as a strong point—music, dancing, games, and outdoor recreation are repeatedly noted as contributing to a relaxed and lively atmosphere—yet these positives do not negate the operational complaints.

A clear pattern across the reviews is variability: outcomes seem to depend heavily on which staff/shift a resident encounters and on the facility’s current management regime. Some families report improvement after managerial changes; others say such changes precipitated decline. Recurrent issues that stand out and are corroborated by multiple reviewers include lost/broken personal items, communication gaps with social work and administration, staffing and supervision inconsistencies (especially nights), and safety/privacy problems related to room configurations and resident behavior. At the same time, consistent praise for particular caregivers and activities indicates genuine strengths in individual staff members and programming.

In summary, Stoney Point Healthcare Center receives both strong endorsements for its compassionate caregiving and troubling critiques of operational reliability and safety. Prospective families should weigh the facility’s clear interpersonal strengths against documented systemic concerns: ask about current management and staffing levels, review recent state inspection reports, clarify laundry and personal-property policies, inquire about shift coverage and incident reporting, and meet key staff (nurses, social workers, administrators) before committing. The reviews suggest the facility can provide excellent, loving care in many cases, but there are significant and recurring issues that merit careful inquiry and monitoring.
