    Caring staff, clean home, recommended

I moved my mom here and I'm very pleased - the staff (Julia, Bella, Simonette, Jessie and many long-tenured caregivers) are caring, professional and go above and beyond; the place feels like home with bright, clean rooms, lovely gardens, great meals, and engaging activities and outings. Medication/dietary needs are handled, communication with families is proactive, and overall we feel safe and well cared for - I'd highly recommend it, with only minor room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Leisure Vale presents as a community with many operational strengths and a strong core of long‑tenured, dedicated caregivers. Numerous families and residents highlight compassionate staff, attentive administration, and a family‑like atmosphere. Practical supports are well established: medication administration and coordination, housekeeping and laundry, transportation for appointments and outings, and Wi‑Fi in resident rooms. Public spaces are frequently described as clean, bright, and comfortable, with a large dining room, communal living area, gardens, and recreational rooms that support music, reading, and socializing.

Dining and activities are clear strengths for many residents. The facility provides three meals daily with menu variety, snacks, and special events such as holiday celebrations and happy hours. An active programming schedule — including bingo, movies, music/entertainment, outings, and on‑site events — contributes to resident engagement and family‑friendly social opportunities.

Care quality is described positively in many accounts: hands‑on caregivers, proactive nursing support, medication management, and individualized assistance with dressing and ADLs. Several reviews single out specific staff and directors for strong leadership and communication, and maintenance staff are noted for keeping the building in good working order. New ownership and remodel efforts have been cited as improvements in some areas.

At the same time, the review set contains a distinct subset of serious concerns that warrant close attention. These concerns cluster around staffing and supervision: instability and turnover, inconsistent training or licensure among some staff, and periods when responders are slow to answer call/pendant alerts. Related operational issues reported include delays in attending to incontinence needs and sanitation concerns, and occasional lapses in incident response or security protocols. A few reviewers described troubling interactions and conduct issues; there are even allegations of inappropriate staff conduct in isolated accounts. These matters are significant because they affect resident safety and dignity and should be clarified during any family’s evaluation.

Facility condition and cost present a mixed picture. Many reviewers praise clean public areas, renovated sections, and pleasant grounds, while others note aging flooring, older air‑conditioning and bathroom fixtures in parts of the building. Perceptions of value also vary: several families feel the food and services are excellent for the price, whereas others describe the community as expensive relative to service consistency.

Overall, Leisure Vale appears to provide a supportive, activity‑rich environment with strong interpersonal strengths among core staff and administration. However, variability in staffing stability, responsiveness, and some aspects of clinical supervision introduces risk for inconsistent resident experience. Prospective residents and families should visit during different times of day, ask about staffing ratios and training/licensure, review incident‑response and call‑system performance, and confirm how the community handles care transitions to form a well‑rounded assessment.

    About Leisure Vale Assisted Living

Leisure Vale Assisted Living in Glendale has served the community since 1990, offering a warm place where seniors can feel at home, keep their independence, and also get help when needed, and the community's been Medi-Cal Approved with California license #197610442, so families don't have to worry about the legal side of things. It's a place where residents can grow, connect, and take part in things like Sports Day, New StARTS Paint Class, gardening, and seasonal art classes, or just enjoy sitting in the library or taking a walk on the paths outside. The staff has over 50 years of experience in senior care, and they're available 24/7 for peace of mind, helping with things like bathing, dressing, and making sure medications are managed correctly, with nurses and caregivers always on duty. There's always a lot going on with engaging activities, outings, and family events that help residents, their families, and the team build real connections, and the programs focus on movement, creativity, safety, and mental clarity to support each person's total well-being.

Residents have a choice of private apartment styles with unique names like Pine Peak Studio, Summit Suite Studio, Aspen Retreat Studio, Rocky Ridge One Bedroom, or Canyon View One Bedroom with Den, and each apartment is meant to feel like home with emergency call systems for safety, plus the place is pet-friendly and has high-speed Wi-Fi and TV service for comfort. There's a chef who prepares three nutritious meals daily, and residents can also use a private dining room for special occasions, while housekeeping, laundry, and scheduled transportation take care of everyday chores, so people can spend more time enjoying things they like. Leisure Vale offers different care levels, including assisted living, independent living, memory care, nursing care, short-term stays, and is a provider of continuing care retirement community services, which means the staff can support changing care needs as time goes on.

You'll find a salon, religious services, garden areas, and lots of organized activities, and all the programs, even for short-term guests, include care, meals, and access to group events or simple get-togethers so no one feels left out. The community has a celebration of life approach and always tries to make residents feel valued, safe, and respected. The front desk and emergency call systems are always running, the environment is clean and welcoming, and you'll see a lot of effort in building a respectful place where people can relax, join in, and feel comfortable. For residents who need help with daily living or memory support, personal care programs and special activity groups give just the right balance of support and independence, and the focus stays on being a place that feels like home while helping each person feel their best each day.
