    Friendly staff beautiful community pricey

I had a very positive experience - the staff were friendly, caring and attentive, the memory-care team was excellent, and the community is beautiful, clean and welcoming with lots of activities and good monitoring of residents. The place feels small and homey with convenient location and comfortable apartments. Dining was hit-or-miss (sometimes lukewarm or limited), and communication about some medical/policy matters could be better. It's expensive, but worth it if you can afford the higher cost.

About Ivy Park at La Palma

Ivy Park at La Palma sits next to La Palma Hospital and has Spanish-style architecture with a covered entry, lush gardens, and walkways for easy strolls, and residents can sit outdoors on patios with pergolas, surrounded by trees and flower beds where you might see butterflies or hummingbirds, which always seems to make the place feel peaceful. The facility runs both assisted living and memory care through its Evergreen at Ivy neighborhood, and there's also independent living and continuing care retirement options, so seniors often find the setup fits different needs as they age, with staff around full-time to help out. Inside, you'll see private apartments in many sizes-44 floor plans, actually-with accessible bathrooms fitted with grab bars and wheelchair-accessible showers, and the overall building feels homelike, with a grand staircase, cozy living rooms fireside for sitting together, and a bistro with a coffee bar where folks often gather for a snack or to chat. The dining areas stand out with restaurant-style meals, a professional chef, and a private dining room for family visits, and the special diets, like low sodium or low sugar, get proper attention along with room service if someone needs to eat alone.

The activity schedule stays busy, and the staff offer programming tailored to each person, so folks can join in on games, puzzles, arts and crafts, or try something different in the activity studio or TV lounge, while memory care residents spend time in sun-drenched spaces full of plants, comfy chairs, and natural light. Ivy Park gives people a real chance to get outside, whether that's tending raised gardening beds, relaxing in the butterfly garden, or just walking the paved paths, and it's always nice seeing families sitting together on the outdoor patios surrounded by landscaping that feels well-kept, which encourages everyone to get fresh air. There's a library, computer rooms with sunny windows, meeting rooms, and even a small theater, and residents often use these spaces for educational groups or religious services, since they regularly hold Protestant, Catholic, and other faith-based activities with visiting chaplains.

Ivy Park has unique programming, including Montessori and sensory-based programs like snoezelen therapy and reminiscence therapy for memory care, and staff follow specialized caregiver training for Alzheimer's and dementia care, which aims to keep residents active and as independent as possible. There's a focus on wellness in everything, from the social activity awards the community has won to the nutritious, well-reviewed meals, which are made from quality ingredients. Residents and families appreciate amenities like guest meal options, salon and beauty services onsite, free transportation-including close bus lines-and thorough housekeeping and laundry, which includes dry-cleaning.

Memory care rooms use calm artwork and soft seating to create relaxing spaces, and the EverYou program helps guide residents through daily routines while engaging memory and promoting comfort. The building's fully accessible, from the main foyer to the smaller nooks, and the entire campus is designed so people with walkers or wheelchairs can get around safely, even outdoors. Ivy Park offers respite stays for short-term recovery and supports hospice care when needed.

The place maintains a high caregiver-to-senior ratio under California's licensing rules, and people often mention the friendly, attentive staff who make the community feel welcoming, though the price point does lean on the higher side compared to some. Visitors can take a tour to see the daily routines, dining, and activities-many residents, especially in memory care, seem comfortable and well cared for, as the staff try to give everyone dignity and a sense of belonging. Wi-Fi and pet-friendly policies help people stay connected and content. All in all, Ivy Park at La Palma offers dependable senior living with a variety of activities, services, and comfortable spaces designed to help residents enjoy their days, no matter what level of help they need.
