I placed my mom here and have been very pleased - the place is clean, safe, and home-like. The staff, especially Mona, are caring, responsive, and give individualized attention; they kept my mom stimulated and helped her regain weight, walking, and cheerfulness. Communication with family and hospice is excellent, activities are offered, and the smaller, well-managed setting feels welcoming and good value. I'm thankful my mom is relaxed and happy here.

Summary of reviews
Bentley Manor presents a mixed but clearly defined profile: many families describe a small, home-like memory-care environment with attentive staff and engaged management, while other accounts point to operational and facility shortcomings that are important to vet during a visit.
Care quality: Numerous families praised individualized, hands-on care and noted measurable improvements in some residents' function and mood. Memory-care staff receive repeated positive mention for keeping residents stimulated and for providing thorough attention. Hospice coordination and end-of-life communication are also cited as strengths. At the same time, there are consistent concerns about limited rehabilitation and physical-activity programming, and a few families observed extended periods of sedentary time for certain residents; prospective families should ask about therapy availability and daily mobility plans.
Staff and management: Management—often named directly by families—is frequently described as responsive and supportive, and many reviewers highlight warm, dedicated caregivers who form strong bonds with residents. However, reviewers also describe variability in staff professionalism, occasional disorganization, and uneven responsiveness. These contrasting impressions suggest staffing consistency and team communication are areas to inquire about (shift coverage, staff training, and supervisory oversight).
Dining: Opinions on meals are polarized. Some families view the facility as providing reasonable value, while others describe bland or declining meal quality and issues with meal presentation and service. Concerns around dining include inconsistent food quality and reliance on informal dining setups. Prospective residents should request current menus, sample meals if possible, and clarification on how dining service and nutrition are monitored.
Activities and social engagement: The facility offers memory-focused activities such as music, arts and crafts, and bingo, and families appreciated activity resumption post–COVID. That said, several reviewers felt the overall activity roster is limited—especially for residents who are not primarily in need of Alzheimer's-specific programming. Ask for a current activities calendar and examples of engagement for different ability levels.
Facilities and accessibility: Bentley Manor is described as small and intimate, which many families find comforting; some also find it to have a higher-end or home-like appearance. Contrastingly, other accounts describe older, dimly lit, or cramped spaces with limited natural light and areas that need maintenance. Accessibility for wheelchair users is called out as a limitation. Sanitation and upkeep are uneven across reviews, indicating you should inspect rooms, common areas, and mobility routes in person and ask about maintenance schedules and recent renovations.
Pricing and admissions: Several reviewers noted that pricing and fees are on the higher side and that admissions conversations can feel pricing-focused. Availability of single/private rooms appears limited. If cost and room type are important factors, confirm current rates, what is included, and waitlist procedures.
Overall pattern and recommendation: Reviews cluster into two main experiences—families who find a responsive, caring, small-memory-care community that produced positive clinical and emotional changes, and families who encountered operational issues around facility upkeep, dining, accessibility, and staffing consistency. Those differences suggest Bentley Manor may be a good fit for residents who prioritize personalized memory-care in a smaller setting, provided prospective families carefully evaluate dining, rehab/physical-activity options, facility condition, accessibility, and staffing stability during an in-person tour.

About Bentley Manor by SCH
Bentley Manor by SCH sits on McLaughlin Avenue in Los Angeles, right across from Mar Vista Recreation Center and close to key amenities like hospitals, museums, and restaurants, so residents do get access to all the things they might need while still having a home-like, boutique setting for everyday life. The facility is a two-story senior community with space for up to 27 residents, offering a cozy, well-kept environment where people are supported with different levels of care including independent living, assisted living, memory care for Alzheimer's or dementia, nursing home care, and even adult day care and respite care options, so folks can get help as their needs change.
The staff-to-resident ratio sticks to one staff member for every four residents, which gives a strong sense that support feels personal, with friendly, well-trained people on hand at all times for daily help or continuous care, depending on what's needed. Bentley Manor provides a safe, comfortable, and familiar setting where dignity and well-being matter, making it easier for people to feel at ease. Studio-style residences are made with comfort in mind, and there are both indoor and outdoor common areas where residents can relax, join in planned activities, or simply socialize, and you'll see people gathering for seated aerobics, arts and crafts, or just enjoying the beautiful upstairs seating area that overlooks the fish tank which a lot of people like to watch. There are green spaces around and paths for outdoor strolls, and residents can also join cultural classes held across the street at the recreation center.
Meals are cooked fresh and served daily in a family-style restaurant called Bo's House of Omelettes and Waffles, with menu options including vegetarian and kosher dishes, and there are homecooked meals for those in day care too, so everyone gets something to suit their needs, plus there's devotional services onsite for anyone with spiritual needs. There's a full calendar of activities-social, entertaining, and educational-which helps folks build friendships and keep their days interesting, and people who want or need to can get memory care that's specialized for Alzheimer's or dementia, with care tailored to keep residents comfortable and safe.
Healthcare support is well coordinated, with nearby hospitals like UCLA Medical Center, Marina Del Rey Hospital, and Cedars-Sinai, plus access to local physicians and pharmacies. Bentley Manor handles non-emergency medical transportation for appointments, and the facility is set up to cover a lot of care needs, including help with daily living and nursing support. The building itself is purposefully designed to make moving around easy and to help people feel at home, and there's a medical clinic on site for routine health services, with care delivered by Specialized Community Healthcare staff using systems like Serenity OS to keep everything organized and responsive. Residents can always expect to find a welcoming atmosphere focused on comfort, personal dignity, and well-being, without pushing too hard on any one idea of what senior living is supposed to be.
