    Warm family-run spotless highly recommended

I'm very pleased with my experience - the small, family-owned facility felt like home, staff were caring, attentive and welcoming, and rooms and common areas were spotless. Meals were good, activities kept my loved one engaged, and administration was supportive; I'd definitely recommend this warm, well-run community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Lighthouse is described as a small, family-owned assisted living community that many families find reassuring for mid-level care and end-of-life support. Strengths frequently cited include an attentive, compassionate caregiving staff, a home-like environment, and strong hospice/comfort-care capabilities. Several families praised individualized attention from owners and administrators, citing clear communication and thoughtful handling of sensitive situations.

Care and staff: Care quality is generally regarded as good for residents whose needs match the facility's services. Reviewers commonly highlighted warm, attentive staff interactions and helpful administrative personnel; individual staff members were singled out for praise. At the same time, there is variability in staff conduct and responsiveness: some families reported unprofessional attitudes or delays in accommodations (for example, difficulties with wheelchair requests or scheduling). These mixed accounts suggest that day-to-day consistency in staff performance may fluctuate.

Dining and services: Dining receives mixed feedback. Many residents and families reported appetizing meals, good dining interaction, and convenient services such as laundry. Other families want more variety and healthier options, and some described inconsistency in food quality. Operationally, several reviewers noted that some services carry extra charges (transportation, medication management), so families should confirm which services are included and which are billed separately.

Activities and social connection: The community offers on-site activities and a communal TV/lounge area, and some reviewers described an active events program. Conversely, other families felt the activity schedule was limited or that their relative was not well connected socially. This indicates that activity engagement may vary by resident interest, mobility, or cohort mix, and prospective families should evaluate activity fit for their specific loved one.

Facilities and accessibility: Many reviewers described clean common areas and a pleasant atmosphere, with some referencing an attractive or distinctive ambiance. However, the physical plant is described as relatively small and older in places: rooms are often compact, and layout or doorways may present challenges for scooters and some wheelchairs. There are also isolated sanitation or odor concerns mentioned by a subset of visitors, so an in-person tour focused on the specific unit and mobility routes is advisable.

Management, cost, and placement considerations: Management is commonly portrayed as caring and personally involved, which aligns with the family-owned character. At the same time, there are recurring notes about high overall cost, extra fees for certain services, and limitations on payment acceptance and bed availability. Some families found the price prohibitive or outside SSI budgets. Additionally, a few reviewers identified scheduling or coordination gaps with administrative staff; confirming policies on scheduling, medication management fees, and transportation is recommended.

Who this fits best: The Lighthouse may be a good match for families seeking a smaller, family-run community with personalized attention, strong hospice support, and a homelike atmosphere, and who can accommodate the facility's cost and layout constraints. Prospective residents with mobility needs, those requiring higher-acuity medical care, people on restricted budgets, or those who prioritize extensive menu variety and a large activities program should verify accommodations and services during a focused tour and written contract review.
