    Caring staff helped my mom

I had a very good experience - caring, professional staff made my mom feel welcome and helped her regain independence. Nurses, CNAs and a skilled rehab team were attentive; maintenance and housekeeping kept the facility clean and home-like. Admissions and management were responsive, Toni at reception and Joy the nurse stood out, and we'll be returning.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for this facility are mixed, with a clear split between consistently positive experiencesโ€”particularly around therapy, admissions, and individual caregiversโ€”and repeated operational concerns that affect some residents and families. Many accounts praise the rehabilitation team (physical and occupational therapy), a physician involvement, and admission/discharge staff for prompt attention and supportive transitions. Individual nurses, CNAs, and reception staff are frequently described as compassionate and helpful; several reviewers credited staff with improving independence and providing courteous communication during stays.

At the same time, reviews identify recurrent operational weaknesses. Staffing instability and turnover appear to be persistent, contributing to inconsistent staff conduct and variable responsiveness across shifts. Families reported gaps in continuity of care and handoffs, which in some cases affected medication administration timing and discharge coordination. Several comments raise sanitation and cleanliness issues in parts of the building, along with odor concerns and variability in housekeeping thoroughness.

Dining and daily-living services show mixed performance. Some visitors described welcoming dining spaces and allowance of outside food, while others raised concerns about meal quality and interruptions to meal-service continuity. Activity programming and social events are a noted strength for ambulatory residents, with staff-led activities and celebratory events frequently mentioned as positive contributors to resident engagement.

Facility condition and logistics are uneven. Maintenance and housekeeping receive praise in many reports, yet other accounts describe run-down areas and inconsistent upkeep. Practical limitations were noted: constrained parking, limited refrigerated storage for residents, and policies restricting extension cords and additional kitchenware. Safety perceptions of the surrounding neighborhood were also mentioned as a consideration for visitors.

Management and administrative practices show contrasts. Some families experienced clear, responsive communication and supportive managers who addressed concerns; others described poor accounting practices, billing disputes (including an allegation related to postโ€‘mortem billing conduct), and an unresponsive administrative approach. These administrative inconsistencies, together with high staff turnover, appear to be a principal source of frustration for families.

Overall, prospective residents and families should weigh the facility's strengths in rehabilitation, several strongly praised caregivers, and active programming against recurring operational issues: staffing stability, care-continuity risks, variable cleanliness, and administrative/billing concerns. Visiting the unit, meeting the care team, clarifying billing procedures, and asking about staffing patterns and sanitation protocols will help families assess whether the facilityโ€™s current performance aligns with their priorities.

About Princeton Manor Healthcare Center, LLC

Princeton Manor Healthcare Center sits under the managerial care of David Silver, who's been in charge since June 2016, and you'll see it's a for-profit, physician-owned place linked up with Iconic Health Systems, where managers and staff focus on providing healthcare services rather than working for a big corporation, and that's an important thing because you get a setup where physicians have direct involvement, so there always seems to be an eye on clinical care and personal treatment. The center has 82 certified beds and sees an average of about 76 residents each day, tending to folks with a wide range of needs, offering skilled nursing and different rehabilitation services, with 24-hour nursing care always available, because whether someone's staying a short time or planning on long-term care, the staff aims for compassionate and well-rounded support.

There's a nurse staffing level of about 3.91 nurse hours per resident per day, and their nurse turnover rate sits at 34%, which isn't the lowest but you'll see many facilities dealing with similar numbers, and they do keep a Licensed Nurse on staff, making sure help is never far away. Now, you should know that some official inspection reports over the past 36 months have documented deficiencies-a total of four were infection-related, and others were about care for maintaining mobility, having a registered nurse present, and proper food sourcing and handling, so nothing's perfect even with no actual harm reported yet there's been a risk for more than minimal harm, so it's good to keep those facts in mind while considering the place.

Amenities cover what's pretty standard in most senior communities-laundry and linens daily, housekeeping every day, shared private rooms, medication management, help with bathing, dressing, and grooming, along with 24-hour supervision to make sure everyone stays safe and gets what they need. Social engagement and activities come from a dedicated activities team-that means residents can join different socials, spend time with community pets, and use wifi or internet for staying connected. Restaurant-style meals and snacks, all meeting dietary needs, are served daily, and there's a range of therapies-physical, occupational, and speech therapy-plus specialized nursing for rehab or longer-term needs, so residents see a spectrum of opportunities for staying active in mind and body.

The atmosphere stays lively, and the staff tries to promote wellness and encourage residents to take part in things they enjoy, choosing what works for them each day, and all these services and the attention to daily living needs are provided in a setting that values a collaborative, team approach to care, so if you're looking around for a physician-managed facility with a bit of a vibrant edge, this is how Princeton Manor Healthcare Center sets itself up, with its license from California Health and Human Services due to run through October 15, 2025, and there's always a number for families to call if they want to schedule a visit or find out more.
