    Upscale apartments with excellent service

I live at Segovia and love the modern, elegant apartments - spacious units with full kitchens, in-unit laundry and garages - and the resort-style amenities (pool/Jacuzzi, gym, theater, art studio, salon, dog park, classes and day trips). The staff are outstanding: attentive, professional, helpful with transportation, housekeeping and events, and the dining is restaurant-quality. It's an upscale, impeccably maintained community - pricey, but for the lifestyle and service I've found here, well worth considering.

    Summary of reviews

Segovia is consistently described as an upscale, well-maintained retirement community with hotel-like service and an extensive amenity set. Reviewers emphasize the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff; transitions and move-in experiences are commonly characterized as smooth, with staff often cited for going beyond basic duties. Housekeeping, linen service, on-call assistance, and on-site therapy/wellness resources contribute to a strong service-oriented experience. Assisted-living options are present, and families noted good nursing responsiveness in some cases, but the community does not offer on-site 24-hour skilled nursing as a standard option.

Dining is a central feature of the community’s appeal. Multiple comments describe restaurant-quality meals, diverse menus, and consistent culinary presentation; social dining and private-event dining spaces are well regarded. Some reviewers note occasional menu repetition or that the food can become tiresome over time, and there are comments about a fixed high meal charge and additional food-related fees that reduce flexibility for residents who eat less or prefer a la carte options.

Activities and programming are broad and include fitness classes, lectures, films (including multiple daily screenings), arts and crafts, speakers, day trips, and organized outings. Transportation services are reliable and include driver-supported doctor visits within a local radius, as well as shopping trips for residents who do not drive. That said, a few accounts indicate activity availability can fluctuate during operational changes (for example, amenity reopenings), so programming may be intermittently reduced at times.

The physical plant and residences are frequently praised: large apartment-style units with full kitchens, in-unit laundry, granite/stainless finishes in newer units, garages, and well-landscaped grounds. Amenities listed across reviews include a theater, multiple pools and Jacuzzis, gyms/weight rooms, a beauty salon, auditorium, bar/private event rooms, putting green, and pet-friendly outdoor spaces. Overall cleanliness and modern design are common positive themes.

Cost and pricing structure are consistent caveats. Multiple references point to an elevated overall cost of living—both large entrance-fee purchase options and high monthly rents are noted—along with complex pricing models and some fixed charges (notably a substantial fixed food fee) that can feel inflexible. Prospective residents should obtain clear, written explanations of entrance-fee versus rental options, monthly service inclusions, and ancillary charges before committing.

Finally, the community’s tone is consistently described as upscale and resort-like, which many residents and families find appealing; others mention a quieter, more homogeneous resident mix with relatively few younger residents, which can translate into a subdued or country-club atmosphere that may not suit everyone. In summary, Segovia presents a high-service, high-amenity option best suited to those seeking a luxury independent/assisted-living environment and willing to accept significant cost and the absence of 24-hour skilled nursing on campus.

    About Segovia

Segovia, sometimes called Oakmont of Segovia, sits in Palm Desert at 39905 Via Scena and offers luxury senior living in a three-story building with manicured flower gardens, winding paths, and cheerful courtyards with tiled fountains, which means residents get to enjoy both beautiful views and quiet places to relax, while the large indoor common areas have comfortable seating, fireplaces, and warm lighting, making them feel cozy and inviting, and the dining areas stand out with chandeliers, white tablecloths, and meals made by skilled chefs using fresh ingredients, plus there are both indoor and outdoor eating choices.

The apartments come in sizes from 486 to 1821 square feet, ranging from studio to two-bedroom layouts, with features like granite countertops, stainless appliances, fireplaces, and large windows, so residents can pick spaces that fit their needs, and pets are welcome, which is a comfort for many. Segovia offers independent living and assisted living, along with specialized memory care for people with Alzheimer's and dementia, and there are also home care, long-term care, rehabilitation, respite care, and adult day care options.

There's a heated swimming pool and hot tub, onsite salon, private movie theater, garden spaces, and both onsite and offsite activity options, so seniors have plenty to do every day, whether it's social, educational, or entertainment programs that encourage them to make friends and stay active. The team at Segovia includes a full-time nurse and staff available 24/7 to help with everything from medication management to bathing or just giving a little extra support when needed, always adjusting help to fit every person's needs, and there's a dedicated wellness center focused on keeping everyone as healthy and independent as possible.

Segovia sits close to local hospitals, specialists, pharmacies, shops, and entertainment in Palm Desert, with regular outings and connections to nearby events. Residents can enjoy chef-prepared meals with vegetarian and kosher options, and there are devotional services held offsite for those who wish to attend. The community holds a high reputation with a 4.9 rating from several reviews and has carefully kept grounds and upscale décor that gives the place an elegant but homelike feel. As part of Oakmont Senior Living and Integrated Senior Living, Segovia also provides strong caregiver support and a range of resources for seniors and their families.
