    Nice apartments but office mismanagement

As a long-term resident, the apartments are nice and feel like home, but my overall experience is soured by office incompetence and waiting-list mismanagement - they removed me after a long waiting list, failed to file an address change, and I suspect disability-based bias from management. Jennie and the occupancy coordinator were the only bright spots: patient, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful with documents. Because of unprofessional staff, administrative errors, and poor communication, I cannot recommend this facility.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the collected reviews is mixed, with clear strengths cited by some residents and applicants alongside recurring and serious administrative concerns raised by others. Positive comments focus primarily on individual staff members in occupancy/administrative roles and on the living environment for long-term residents. Negative comments concentrate on mismanagement of the waiting list, administrative errors that affected applicants’ status, and allegations of biased or discriminatory behavior that led to distrust and dissatisfaction.

Staff: The reviews reveal a split perception of staff performance. Several reviews praise an occupancy coordinator (named Jennie in multiple comments) as patient, knowledgeable, and effective at helping applicants secure or assemble required documents quickly — reviewers described these interactions as “wonderful” and “amazing.” Those positive interactions translated into strong individual experiences and a sense that some staff are attentive and capable. Conversely, other reviewers described office staff as incompetent or unprofessional, citing specific administrative failings. Management was also characterized as biased by some reviewers, which contributed to a perception of unfair treatment.

Administration and waiting list issues: A dominant theme among negative reviews is waiting list mismanagement. Complaints include long waiting lists, removal from the waiting list without satisfactory explanation, failure to process or file an address change, and other administrative errors. These operational failures appear to have real consequences for applicants and have led to miscommunication and broken trust. The presence of multiple, similar complaints about administrative handling suggests a pattern rather than isolated incidents. Additionally, at least one reviewer suspected disability discrimination, which elevates the concern from procedural incompetence to potential legal and ethical violations; this claim, coupled with reports of management bias, contributed to some reviewers explicitly advising others not to recommend the facility.

Facilities and resident experience: Comments about physical facilities are uniformly positive but limited in scope. Reviews mention small but nice apartments and a long-term resident stated that the community feels like home, indicating that the living spaces and residential atmosphere can be comfortable and welcoming for established residents. There are no specific comments in these summaries about care quality, dining, or activities, so no definitive conclusions can be drawn about those aspects from the provided data.

Patterns and notable concerns: The most consistent negative pattern is administrative/process failures affecting applicants (waiting list handling, documentation, address updates) and resulting in distrust. The most consistent positive pattern is the existence of at least one highly effective occupancy coordinator who significantly improves the experience for some applicants. The juxtaposition of strong praise for specific staff members and repeated complaints about broader office/management processes suggests variability in staff competency and possible gaps in training, oversight, or systems.

Recommendations and considerations for prospective residents or investigators: Prospective applicants should verify the facility’s waiting list procedures in writing, request confirmations for any changes (such as address updates), and ask who their point of contact will be to avoid miscommunication. If possible, seek to interact with the occupancy coordinator praised by multiple reviewers, and document all communications. For the facility, the reviews point to clear areas for improvement: strengthen administrative processes, implement staff training and supervision to reduce errors, improve transparency around waiting list policies, and investigate any allegations of discriminatory behavior to address serious reputational and legal risks.

In summary, Leisure Manor Apartments appears to offer a pleasant living environment for some long-term residents and has at least one standout staff member who provides excellent applicant support. However, recurring administrative failures, waiting list mismanagement, reports of unprofessionalism, and allegations of bias or discrimination are significant issues that prospective residents should probe and the facility should urgently address. The mixed nature of the reviews means positive experiences are possible, but the operational concerns create an uneven overall picture and warrant careful due diligence before commitment.

    About Leisure Manor Apartments

Leisure Manor Apartments sits in North Sacramento, close to shopping, healthcare, parks, and places to visit, and they focus on serving seniors and people with disabilities. The building offers studio apartments that are kept up well, with compact kitchens and bathrooms with plenty of space, and folks describe the grounds as beautiful, with walking paths, garden boxes, and tranquil areas where residents can visit with neighbors, friends, and family. The community welcomes pets, lets residents enjoy waterfront and terrace dining, and has a chef folks call top notch, serving meals in elegant dining rooms. Residents who qualify for the HUD Project-based Section 8 program find affordable, income-based rent, and special housing programs support seniors 62 and older or disabled residents of any age, with some programs opening to disabled people aged 50 and above; families with minor children can sometimes qualify if the main applicant is elderly or disabled, and there's usually a long waiting list that can stretch up to three years.

Staff run events and activities regularly, with a focus on building a positive community, and residents can use a resident portal for updates. Emergency pull cords are available throughout the apartments and monitored at all hours. Most reviews call the management professional and say Liz, the new manager, is wonderful, while staff get praise for treating people like family and for providing good energy, but some residents say they've had problems with rudeness from management, and a few mention that there's a rule where staff aren't supposed to talk with residents, so satisfaction depends on who you ask. Sometimes people say the security deposit doesn't get returned when they move out. A sign on the door says "NO VISITORS IN BUILDING," which can matter to those who want guests. Apartment homes are described as clean, cozy, and spacious enough, with a strong focus on keeping things affordable and safe for folks on fixed incomes who want independent living with activity options and support, and the grounds stay tidy and pleasant for walking or relaxing.
