    Chronic neglect caused preventable death

I appreciated the compassionate hospice team and some kind, practical caregivers who kept her comfortable, but I cannot recommend this facility. Chronic short-staffing, rude administration, inadequate supplies and delayed call-light responses left residents unattended (she fell), and untreated issues - an eye infection and pressure sores - led to ER care and ultimately her death. The building is poorly maintained (leaky bathrooms, broken beds and equipment), though rooms were sometimes cleaned and some staff treated residents with dignity. Caring frontline staff couldn't overcome very poor management and safety problems.

    About Saint Claire's Nursing Center

Saint Claire's Nursing Center, founded in 1983, has been caring for older adults with a focus on both short-term rehabilitation and long-term nursing needs for quite a while now, and what you'll notice is that the staff work around the clock, offering care from experienced doctors, nurses, and certified nursing assistants who pay close attention to needs like bathing, dressing, medication management, and other daily activities, and if ever there's a big change in a resident's health or if an injury occurs, they have policies to notify families and doctors right away, so nothing falls through the cracks. Residents get professional medical supervision and assessments coordinated by registered nurses, following written care plans, and switching between levels of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care for dementia or Alzheimer's, skilled nursing, and respite care, is possible, since Saint Claire's is part of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) setup. The facility itself, not inside a hospital, is fully equipped with 99 certified beds, and has a 100% occupancy rate, showing lots of people live there, plus the physical environment is designed for comfort and safety, with an automatic fire sprinkler system throughout.

The rooms are furnished with private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable TV, internet, and kitchenettes, giving some of the comforts of home, and for people who care about food, there's a dining room where they serve restaurant-style meals, including those made for special diets like diabetes, managed by a professional chef, and dining is all-day, so you won't feel rushed. Saint Claire's offers plenty of activity and social spaces, like a fitness room, movie theater, activity room, arts and crafts areas, communal gardens-both indoors and out-and even a beauty salon, so residents can enjoy a haircut or just a little self-care, and there are outdoor walking paths and a library for some quiet time. Housekeeping, linen services, move-in coordination, transportation to appointments, business rooms for computer access, and concierge help tie into their focus on making daily living easier, whether it's with gaming rooms, music programs, or scheduled and resident-run activities like movie nights.

The staff provide 24-hour nursing care with 12-16 hour shifts, which keeps help close by, and therapy services for rehabilitation-physical, occupational, and speech-are part of the routine alongside long-term care, so if a resident needs to regain independence after a hospital stay, there's support in place, and special attention goes to Alzheimer's care, mental wellness, and assistance with mobility or managing medical issues like pressure sores and weight loss. Nursing hours average out per resident, with a blend of RN, LPN, and CNA time, and the Center participates in Medicare and Medicaid, keeping options open for families. Safety and health are a clear concern, with high participation in immunization programs, and while Saint Claire's is a for-profit, corporation-owned facility, it's not part of any broader chain, which some people like because the care feels a bit more focused. Resident and family councils are active, giving people a say in their own care, and the staff are often described as friendly and attentive by those living or visiting there.

Saint Claire's Nursing Center doesn't make a big show of being fancy, but you'll find the basics are covered and the place is committed to giving honest, practical care, whether someone is recovering from a stay in the hospital, needs memory care, or wants a stable place to live while health needs change over time, and with the full range of support, from social activities to hands-on help, most older adults find daily life comfortable and secure there.
