    Small, clean home-style memory care

I've been very impressed - this small, home-style community is lovely and very clean. Mark and Neysa (and the rest of the fantastic, proactive staff) truly care, management is engaged, and the private-bath rooms and attentive memory care make it one of the best options in the area.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive about the quality of care and the staff at Greenwood Assisted Living, while expressing some consistent concerns about space, activities/amenities, and cost. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the staff are caring and proactive, calling the facility the best memory-care option in the area and noting a home-style approach to caregiving. Cleanliness and a pleasant, lovely atmosphere are repeatedly mentioned, and several reviewers highlight that the facility is small and intimate, which contributes to a home-like feel.

Care quality and staff: Reviews consistently single out the staff as a primary strength. Descriptors used across reviews include caring, proactive, friendly, and home-style care. Two staff members are called out by name (Mark and Neysa) and are described as excellent, which suggests a strong, personal connection between staff and residents or families. The repeated endorsement of memory-care services indicates reviewers view Greenwood as especially competent for residents with cognitive needs.

Facilities and rooms: The facility is described as small, which reviewers treat mainly as a positive because it creates an intimate, community-like environment. Rooms that include their own bathroom are noted as a plus; the building itself is called decent and the facility is described as very clean. At the same time, several reviewers mention that rooms are small — a tangible downside for prospective residents who prioritize living space. The small scale of the community appears to be both a selling point (home-like, attentive care) and a limitation (tight room sizes).

Activities, amenities, and programming: A clear theme across the reviews is that activities and amenities are limited and could be improved. While reviewers praise staff and the home-like environment, they point out a lack of robust programming or amenities compared with some larger facilities. There is no detailed feedback about dining quality or specific activity offerings in the provided summaries, only a general statement that activities are limited and amenities could use enhancement.

Cost and management impressions: Pricing is raised as a concern by reviewers, suggesting that some feel the cost may not fully align with the level of amenities or space provided. However, positive comments about staff, memory care expertise, and cleanliness imply that many find the caregiving value strong despite price concerns. The reviews do not provide explicit evaluations of administrative or management responsiveness beyond the practical impressions gleaned from staff interactions (i.e., staff are described as proactive and caring).

Notable patterns and overall recommendation tone: The dominant pattern is high satisfaction with people-centered aspects (staff, memory-care skill, cleanliness, home-like environment) combined with consistent requests for improvement in physical space, activities, and amenities. Pricing concerns appear less universal but notable enough to be a recurring theme. In summary, reviewers portray Greenwood Assisted Living as a small, well-kept, and warmly staffed memory-care-focused facility where personalized care and friendliness are core strengths, while prospective residents and families may want to weigh those strengths against smaller room sizes, limited activities/amenities, and potential cost issues.

    About Greenwood Assisted Living

Greenwood Assisted Living sits in San Rafael, California, and offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, nursing home, and continuing care retirement community options, with rooms and suites that have housekeeping, cable TV, kitchens or kitchenettes, and washers and dryers for residents who want them, and you'll find a dining room, salon and barbershop, game room, guest parking, Wi-Fi, fitness center, sprinklers, and a system for maintenance all part of the property amenities, which also includes both indoor and outdoor common areas for people who like to socialize or just want a bit of fresh air, and when it comes to getting out for appointments or shopping, transportation services are available for an extra cost. The caregivers here are experienced and supportive and people often say they look after residents much like their own family, which can be comforting, and there's around-the-clock staff on site, including nurses, with visiting healthcare professionals like podiatrists, dentists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, plus a doctor is always on call, and staff can handle medication support including running the Med Station to keep medication safe and organized. The community's known for making personalized care plans for each resident, even for people with Alzheimer's or dementia who might need extra help with memory care, and there's a secure, purpose-built memory care building using technology like special bracelets to help prevent wandering, and some staff can manage difficult behaviors and support residents with major issues, which is a relief for families dealing with tough situations. Residents can count on help with dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and behavioral care if needed, and mechanical lift transfers and wheelchair accessible showers are available for folks who have trouble getting around, so you don't have to worry about accessibility. There are safety and handicap features all over the property, and emergency plans in place to keep everyone safe. Social life is a big part of Greenwood, with daily activities, arts and crafts, educational programs, health and wellness classes, meal prep and snacks, special memory care programs, devotional services, and a real feeling of community, and people can join hospice or respite care as their needs change, which means you can stay in the same place even as you may need more help over time. The team works with residents and families to understand what level of care's needed, helps review all services and costs, offers tours or virtual visits, and encourages folks to talk to current residents or families for feedback, and that all helps make decisions easier without rushing anything.
