    Attentive staff, luxurious senior community

I'm grateful I chose Belmont Village Encino - kind, attentive staff and strong leadership from Executive Director Ralph Balbin made the move smooth. The community feels like a luxury hotel: spotless lobby and memory-care, a bright dining room with delicious, well-served meals, large outdoor patio, salon and steady outings; nurses and caregivers (Ellen, Ana, Miguel, Jose and many others) are warm, responsive and proactive. My mom is engaged, smiling and well cared for - we feel safe, listened to, and very pleased with her life here.

    Summary of reviews

Belmont Village Encino presents as an upscale, hotel-like senior living community with many strengths reiterated across reviews. The facility is frequently described as clean and well maintained, with bright, well-appointed common areas and an attractive dining room. Dining is a consistent positive: restaurant-style service, varied menus, customizable options, and attentive dining staff are commonly praised, although occasional notes cite temperature or presentation inconsistencies. Activities programming is robust — daily listings, frequent live entertainment, outings, and a structured memory-care curriculum (Circle of Friends) are highlighted as meaningful contributors to resident engagement and cognitive stimulation.

Staffing and clinical care receive mixed but detailed commentary. Many families praised long-tenured caregivers, responsive nursing staff, and accessible leadership, noting proactive communication and individualized attention. At the same time, reviews point to operational weaknesses: inconsistent staffing levels, occasional delays in responding to care requests, and examples of delayed clinical documentation. A subset of reviews described serious concerns about clinical oversight and medication handling; these are significant and merit follow-up by prospective families and regulators as appropriate. More generally, reviewers describe variability in caregiver training and conduct, suggesting uneven performance across shifts or teams.

Operational and logistical themes recur. Transportation and scheduling services exist and are used by residents, but coordination problems and pickup timing issues were mentioned. Housekeeping and maintenance are generally commended for keeping common areas tidy; however, there are accounts of maintenance being stretched (for example, broken equipment and slower repairs) and of laundry or personal items being misplaced when labeling processes are not followed. Billing, pricing, and value-for-cost are a consistent consideration: Belmont Village Encino is positioned at a higher price point, and several families noted billing or refund delays and a need for price transparency.

Suitability considerations are important when evaluating this community. The property tends to fit residents seeking an active, social, and upscale assisted-living environment with strong programming for early-stage memory impairment. Families seeking extensive one-to-one hands-on care, bedbound services, or a quieter, small-campus setting may find operational limits here. Outdoor walking and garden areas are limited relative to the building’s otherwise large campus, and some apartment types (studios/kitchenette units) are described as compact.

In summary, prospective residents and families can expect a well-run, amenity-rich community with strong dining and activity offerings and engaged leadership. At the same time, they should evaluate clinical safeguards (medication processes, shift staffing levels, and documentation practices), clarify laundry and personal-item protocols, and review pricing and billing procedures during a tour. For families of residents with high-dependency care needs or those who require guaranteed one-to-one support, further discussion with clinical leadership about capabilities and staffing models is recommended.

About Belmont Village Senior Living Encino

Belmont Village Senior Living Encino sits in a tree-lined neighborhood between Encino and Sherman Oaks in the San Fernando Valley and serves up to 150 residents with a range of support, since people can choose independent living, assisted living, or memory care, plus short-term or respite stays are available too, and they've got options for couples to stay together even if their care needs are different. Residents get chef-prepared meals-there's a restaurant-style dining room and a bistro for lighter fare-and you'll find vegetarian choices too, along with a full-service salon and barber for both men and women if someone wants their hair done right on site. Housekeeping is part of the service, and with complimentary daily transportation, visits to appointments, local attractions, or off-site devotional services aren't a worry.

Both men and women live in the building, but certain areas or programs might have gender-based rules, so that's something the staff will explain as needed. There's plenty of spaces where people can socialize or relax, like indoor and outdoor common areas and a fitness center with on-site therapy services for physical, speech, or occupational needs. Residents can have pets and there's parking for those with cars, but no smoking inside anywhere including private or public spaces. Staff include nurses on-site 24/7, a doctor on call, a dentist, a podiatrist, and therapists, and they work from detailed life plans tailored to each resident's needs. Medication help, diabetes support, and even hospice services come as part of the range of options, and aging in place is part of the philosophy, making it possible for people to stay in the same community as their needs change.

Memory care services include a separate Memory Care Neighborhood and the Circle of Friends program, which stands out for folks with Mild Cognitive Impairment since it's built on research and involves daily activities, exercise, and social engagement, with a secure environment to cut down confusion or wandering. The calendar's always full, with staff planning social, physical, and educational events to keep everyone as involved as they want to be, and the staff prides themselves on being warm and attentive, so the atmosphere's known for being friendly and helpful. Every apartment's accessible and most showers allow wheelchair access, so folks with mobility needs get around easier, and there's plenty of space for gatherings, whether it's a family visit, an enrichment class, or time with a pet. Belmont Village Senior Living builds, owns, and runs its own properties, and the leadership aims to blend hospitality and care, drawing on input from academic partners like UCLA, UC San Diego, and the University of Houston, so the health and dining programs come with some extra thought behind them and the community stays up to date with good practices. The state of California licenses Belmont Village Senior Living Encino as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly, License #197608466.
