    Lifesaver, spacious, spotless, responsive staff

I moved my mom into the new Lake Balboa location and it's been a lifesaver - spacious, spotless, home-like rooms with great amenities, comfortable seating, flexible drop-in visits, and 24/7 staffing. The owners and staff are responsive, follow-up after our excellent tour was helpful, and Celebrity Home Health's experience relieved our family burden so we got more quality time together. Well managed and top-notch overall, though furniture could use updating and it wasn't sufficient for my husband's higher care needs. I would recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Clarendon Senior Living is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize the facility’s clean, spacious and home-like atmosphere, describing rooms as roomy and the communal areas as comfortable and uncluttered. The physical environment is repeatedly noted as welcoming—comfortable seating, well-organized spaces, and an overall lack of clutter contribute to a pleasant, residential feel. A new Lake Balboa location is specifically called out as convenient, suggesting that at least some reviewers value the site’s accessibility.

Care quality and staffing are prominent strengths in the reviews. Respondents describe the care as “amazing” or “top-notch,” and several highlight the presence of 24/7 staffing as a reassurance of continuous support. Reviewers also praise the owners and management team for being responsive and genuinely caring about tenants, which appears to translate into a sense of trust and satisfaction. One review references an experienced affiliated Home Health Agency (Celebrity Home Health) with 24 years in business, indicating that the facility either partners with or is supported by seasoned home-health professionals—this bolsters the perception of competent medical and personal care oversight.

Admissions, communication, and family experience are additional recurring positives. People report having had a great tour experience, helpful follow-up from staff, and the option for welcoming drop-in visits; flexible protocols were noted, which may refer to visitation policies or individualized care approaches. Several comments emphasize the emotional and practical benefit to families: placement at Clarendon relieved caregiver burden, allowed more quality family time, and made visits enjoyable. Multiple reviewers explicitly say they would recommend the facility, and some call it the best or a lifesaver for their family.

Facility management, amenities, and atmosphere get consistent praise. Reviewers describe the facility as well-managed and organized, with good amenities that contribute to resident comfort and quality of life. The owners’ hands-on attitude and responsiveness are singled out as differentiators that help maintain a high standard and build family confidence. The combination of good tours, follow-up, and flexible protocols suggests an admissions and ongoing communication process that is family-friendly and service-oriented.

The primary concerns raised are limited but important. Several reviewers mention that some furniture could use updating, indicating that while the facility is clean and comfortable, certain aesthetic or wear-and-tear issues remain. More substantively, at least one reviewer noted the facility was insufficient to meet a husband’s higher care needs—this signals a limitation in the facility’s capacity to handle high-acuity or intensive medical care. In practical terms, Clarendon appears well-suited for independent to moderate care needs but may not be appropriate for residents requiring advanced medical support or specialized nursing-level care.

In summary, Clarendon Senior Living receives strong marks for its clean, home-like environment, attentive and responsive ownership/management, consistent staffing, and family-focused admissions and communication. Its homey atmosphere, comfortable public spaces, and amenities support enjoyable visits and relieve family caregivers. The partnership or affiliation with an experienced home health agency and 24/7 staffing are particular strengths. Prospective residents and families should note the limitations around high-acuity medical care and consider whether the facility’s services match more complex clinical needs; cosmetic updates to furniture were also mentioned but do not appear to be a pervasive problem. Overall, reviews portray Clarendon as a well-run, compassionate option for seniors who need regular support but not intensive medical intervention.

    About Clarendon Senior Living

Clarendon Senior Living provides assisted living, independent living, memory care, and respite care for people sixty or older, and the community includes a group of homes called Clarendon Assisted Living, with each board and care home serving about six residents, so the setting feels small and more like a family than a big facility, and you'll find some unique names for different homes and programs like The Clarendon House, True Life Care, Walnut Acres Residential Care, The Wasserman Campus, Flair Manor I, Flair Manor III, The Variel of Woodland Hills, and Villa Mulholland. The buildings are all single story with high ceilings, which helps people move around easily no matter their level of care, and the modern, open layouts with comfortable shared and private rooms look nice while letting in a lot of light, and you see right away they're meant to be inviting, safe, and homelike, which is a real help for folks trying to age in place and keep some independence, especially with special options for Alzheimer's and dementia care. The staff keep a close eye on each person's health with daily charting of vital signs, food, sleep, and such, plus they help with dressing, bathing, medications, and general healthcare. Housekeeping, laundry, and meal service are part of daily life, with one or two prepared meals per day and menus that can be changed for personal tastes or dietary needs, which is nice for people who want familiar food or have special restrictions. Folks who want to keep their hobbies can do things like gardening, low-impact dancing, arts and crafts, and religious services, with programs meant for residents at all care levels. The community doesn't allow smoking indoors, but it does allow pets, so people who want to keep an animal companion can do that, and there's even complimentary transportation for those who need help getting around to appointments. Family involvement is welcomed and encouraged, giving loved ones a chance to help shape care plans or visit easily, since everything's on quiet residential streets in Woodland Hills, and services range from independent living to higher levels of assistance so people can adjust their care level while staying put. Memory care is found at The Clarendon House, with specialized support for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, while the approach everywhere is to care for the whole person-physically, mentally, and emotionally-rather than just handling basic needs. High staff-to-resident ratios, a focus on kindness and responsiveness, and tailored support all make it easier for residents to keep their sense of self and community, and you'll notice there's a dedication to creating a space that feels comfortable, secure, and loving, with daily routines, amenities, and activities built around each individual. There's even hospice support for those who need it, so people don't have to move when their needs change, all of which helps foster a real sense of home and continuity.
