    Warm attentive community with amenities

I moved in and have been very pleased - staff are warm and attentive and the community genuinely feels like family. There are abundant activities (exercise, pool, yoga/Tai Chi, book clubs, painting, Active Minds/Great Decisions, lectures), excellent dining with weekly chef menu talks and fresh coffee, plus included perks like underground parking, transportation, EV charging, rehab/therapy and easy access to assisted care. Resident committees, prompt maintenance, beautiful grounds and a private balcony with mountain views made the move seamless and enjoyable - a wonderful place to call home.

    Summary of reviews

Vi at Highlands Ranch is frequently described as a luxury, full-service continuing care community with many high-end amenities and an active social environment. Reviewers consistently praise the dining program — an engaged executive chef, regular menu discussions, extensive takeout and room-service options, and full dining-room service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The property’s grounds, accessible walking paths, sheltered parking, EV charging, bike-friendly features and mountain views are repeatedly highlighted, and many people cite the facility’s resort-like amenities (saltwater pool, fitness center, theater, bistro, salon and business center) as major strengths.

Staffing and care receive mixed but often positive assessments. Numerous comments describe attentive, resident-focused staff who know residents personally, rapid maintenance response, coordinated vaccination efforts and a strong rehabilitation/post-acute capability. Several reviewers identify the on-site continuum of care — independent living through memory care and skilled nursing — as a reassuring feature for long-term planning. Resident governance and social structures (welcome committees, resident-led committees, clubs, and informal groups) strengthen community engagement and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere for many residents.

At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns prospective residents should evaluate. Cost is a prominent issue: the community is described as expensive, with high buy-in requirements and restrictive exit/refund terms. Management and communication receive uneven marks — some families describe clear, helpful communication and proactive staff, while others describe slow or inadequate follow-up, difficulty resolving complaints, and limited family input on placement decisions. Staffing allocation and consistency are also noted as areas to verify during a tour; while many staff are described as compassionate and responsive, there are comments pointing to variability in staffing levels and follow-up care, particularly in some nursing/post-acute situations.

Dining and activity offerings are generally strong, but reviewers describe variation in food quality and in how activities are delivered (in-person, outdoors, or via virtual platforms during infection-control periods). Pandemic-era policies prompted reports of restricted access to outside medical providers and social isolation for some residents — prospective residents should ask about current visitation and outside-care policies. Other practical considerations include waitlists for apartments, limited size of some common rooms, and the community’s intimate scale, which some independent-living seekers may find less suitable.

Practical advice for families: confirm financial and exit terms in writing, ask for current staffing ratios and examples of complaint-resolution processes, sample multiple meals at different times, and tour the specific care level(s) you would use in the future. Also request recent examples of infection-control policies and family-communication practices. Overall, Vi at Highlands Ranch is characterized by substantial amenities, active programming, and many staff who foster a strong social community; however, the high cost, some management/communication inconsistencies, variable care experiences across levels, and restrictive contract terms are important considerations to investigate further during touring and contract review.

    About Vi at Highlands Ranch

Vi at Highlands Ranch sits on 25 acres of hillside and offers a good view of the Rocky Mountains, so people can enjoy nature and open space, and the facility covers a lot of ground, with plenty of walking paths, patio gardens, and manicured lawns. There are about thirty floor plans, including two-bedroom apartments with dens, patios, kitchens, washer/dryers, garage spaces, and either balconies, porches, or patios. The community includes indoor and outdoor common areas, so residents can gather by fireplaces or relax in the enclosed courtyard, game room, library, or TV lounge. Residents can join in on cultural programming throughout the year and social, educational, and recreational activities, which range from arts and crafts to musical events with a piano or orchestra.

Vi at Highlands Ranch uses a Life Plan Community model, also called a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), so people can live independently and then receive more help as their needs change, moving among independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and even adult day care or home care. There's full-time staff to help with daily needs like bathing, medication, and dressing for those who want assisted living, and separate care and therapies designed for residents with memory troubles, such as Alzheimer's or dementia, with cues using sight, sound, and aroma to help guide them around, plus security features for safety. The care center has licensed nurses and therapists who provide skilled nursing services, health monitoring, therapy, hospice coordination, and daily medical support. They also admit residents any day of the week.

People have a choice of restaurant-style dining run by professional chefs, and meal plans that can be customized, with private dining rooms for gatherings. Amenities include an indoor pool, hot tub, jacuzzi, fitness center, onsite salon, barber shop, laundry and dry-cleaning services, Wi-Fi, and covered or free parking. Transportation options include scheduled outings, help with getting to area destinations, and access to nearby Denver for cultural or recreational trips. The facility emphasizes whole-person wellness and tries to make life feel active and comfortable, with staff offering personalized support, communal spaces, and personalized care plans based on individual health assessments. Residents can expect an organized environment with activities and plenty of choice, supporting independence while making sure help and services are close at hand as people get older.
