    Clean, caring community with activities

My parents have lived here for 12 years and we've had a very positive experience - clean, well-maintained building, lovely apartments with full kitchens and balconies, and chef-prepared meals in a nice dining room. The staff are caring, friendly, and attentive (special thanks to Danielle in sales and Peter in activities); there are plenty of activities, transportation, and helpful services like monthly hearing-aid and walker maintenance. It feels safe and homey, and I would recommend it for independent living.

    Summary of reviews

The Wexford is described consistently as an established, well-maintained senior-living community with a strong emphasis on hospitality, ambience, and resident comfort. Reviewers emphasize a courteous, attentive staff who create a welcoming, family-like atmosphere; staff are noted for remembering names, providing personalized touches, and maintaining long tenure. Operational safety features such as 24/7 staff availability and in-room emergency pull cords are highlighted alongside a perceived sense of cleanliness and security.

Dining and daily living are prominent strengths. The community offers upscale, chef-prepared meals with three-meal service, a salad bar, and formal dining touches. Apartment options span one- to three-bedroom layouts, many with full kitchens, balconies, and full bathrooms, giving residents options for more independent living. On-site amenities — including a library, salon, activity room, computer access, mini-mercantile, and organized transportation for outings — support social engagement and routine needs. Families also note a large, well-equipped visiting-family room for private gatherings.

Programming and resident life are presented as active and varied: frequent activities, events, trips, and organized social opportunities are repeatedly noted. The community also partners with a broader health-services organization (Columbine Health Services) and provides ancillary maintenance offerings such as hearing-aid and mobility-device maintenance. Reviewers specifically mention positive experiences with assisted and specialized care, including end-of-life support, indicating an ability to serve residents across a range of needs.

Notable patterns to investigate further: while the Wexford receives consistent praise for hospitality, dining, and physical amenities, its distinguishing features versus nearby senior communities are less clear; some impressions characterize the community as aligning with local standards rather than markedly exceeding them. Additionally, public detail around clinical staffing levels, nurse coverage, and medical oversight is limited in the reviewed comments, and service consistency between independent-living and long-term-care areas may vary. Prospective residents and families should consider on-site follow-up questions about clinical staffing ratios, medication-management protocols, and how transitions between levels of care are coordinated, and request a tour focused on both social and clinical operations to verify fit.

    About The Wexford

The Wexford is a retirement community at 1515 W 28th St in Loveland, Colorado, offering independent and assisted living services for older adults. The community provides several housing choices like studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, even a suite, and some apartments have full kitchens, plenty of storage space, and either a patio or a balcony for some fresh air. Residents get three chef-prepared meals a day in a restaurant-style dining room, with a 24/7 beverage center and themed dinners during holidays, and if guests visit, there are guest apartments available. There's a cafe called Columbine & Bakery and a banquet hall, plus a library with a fireplace, a private dining room, and a Town Hall with a dance floor for gatherings. The Wexford takes care of chores like housekeeping, laundry, lawn care, snow shoveling, and trash, so folks don't have to worry about daily upkeep and can focus on their hobbies or interests. Staff provide round-the-clock support, help with daily tasks, and specialized care such as incontinence care, help for people with diabetes, orthopedic or prosthesis support, and non-ambulatory services, and the team is often recognized for being helpful and kind, creating a welcoming environment.

Safety features include emergency pull-cords in every apartment, security cameras at every door, and a team that patrols at night for peace of mind. When someone needs to go to an appointment or wants to go to the store, there's a comfortable van for transportation, and outings are part of the activity schedule, whether it's "Concerts in the Park," going to art museums or sculpture galleries, or just playing games like pool or poker in the common areas. The community has structured programs to keep people active and connected, with fitness classes led by licensed professionals, stationary bikes, walking groups, creative workshops, devotional activities, and educational events. Residents can use hospital equipment and supplies if needed, and there is access to nursing care as part of convalescent home features, so needs can be met even as they change. Folks can tour The Wexford without an appointment on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and if they need to come in the evening or on weekends, they can set up a time to visit. The place tries to encourage socializing and friendship, so it doesn't feel lonely, and there's always something to do or someone to talk with, making retirement here comfortable and lively without the stress of daily chores.
