    Peaceful fulfilling condo living here

I live here and feel taken care of - peaceful, fulfilling, and muy agradable para adultos mayores. The staff is great and I have real peace of mind; there's always something to do, from plays to community courses, with inclusive involvement at any level. I enjoy condo living at its best and truly think it's the best SNF/ICF in CT. The food pleases me (scrumptious pie crusts - mashed potatoes are my favorite); I'd welcome cottage/shepherd's pie despite lamb being pricey, and we endlessly debate tater tots vs curly fries.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews of Duncaster are overwhelmingly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize a fulfilling, welcoming environment where residents feel taken care of and experience peace of mind. Comments range from general praise — calling it a remarkable and very pleasant place for older adults — to specific endorsements such as one reviewer labeling it the best SNF and ICF in Connecticut and another describing condo living there as "at its best." Very few systemic negatives are reported; the most common criticisms relate to menu choices and food pricing.

Care quality and staff: Reviewers repeatedly highlight great, attentive staff and a sense of security and being cared for. Phrases like "peace of mind" and "taken care of" appear in the feedback, indicating that family members and residents feel confident in the personal and clinical care provided. The explicit praise of staff and the claim of top-tier skilled and intermediate care (as stated by a reviewer) point to strong performance in caregiving and facility management from the perspective of reviewers.

Activities and community life: Activities are a clear strength. Reviewers note there is "always something to do," with specific references to opportunities to participate in plays and to community-oriented courses created for residents and the surrounding community. The facility is described as inclusive, allowing involvement "at any level," which suggests programming that accommodates a range of physical and cognitive abilities. The combination of performing arts, educational offerings, and frequent activity options supports an engaged, socially rich resident experience.

Facilities and living arrangements: The term "condo living at its best" and other similarly positive descriptors suggest that the residential accommodations and campus-style living are well-regarded. Reviewers describe Duncaster as a "remarkable place" and "muy agradable, para adultos mayores," indicating broad satisfaction with the living environment, aesthetics, and suitability for older adults. The reviews imply that facilities meet expectations for comfortable, senior-oriented living spaces.

Dining: Most dining-related comments are positive or neutral but include a mix of praise and personal preferences. One specific positive detail is praise for pies with a "scrumptious crust." At the same time, reviewers express food preferences (a liking for mashed potatoes, desire for cottage or shepherd's pie) and small debates about side items (tater tots versus curly fries). There is also a noted concern about the price of lamb on the menu. These dining remarks are largely about taste, variety, and cost rather than food safety or service problems.

Management and overall patterns: Across the summaries there is a pattern of satisfaction and few substantive complaints. Management appears to be providing a wide range of programming and maintaining an environment where residents feel cared for. The presence of educational courses and outreach to the community signals active programming and an orientation beyond basic residential services. The predominance of positive comments and the lack of recurring operational criticisms suggest stable management and consistent service delivery.

Notable caveats and actionable observations: The only recurring areas for improvement cited by reviewers concern dining variety and meal pricing. Consider reviewing menu variety to add comfort-style options noted by residents (examples given: cottage pie, shepherd's pie) and reassessing pricing or value communication for higher-cost menu items such as lamb. Minor debates about side dishes reflect normal variation in resident tastes and could be addressed by offering choices when feasible.

Conclusion: In sum, reviewers portray Duncaster as a caring, active, and well-managed senior living community with strong staff, ample activities, and comfortable accommodations. The feedback is predominantly positive, with the main, relatively minor criticisms focused on specific dining preferences and cost. For prospective residents or family members, the reviews indicate a high-likelihood of good quality of life, meaningful engagement opportunities, and dependable staff support.

    About Duncaster

Duncaster sits on 94 acres of landscaped grounds in Bloomfield, CT, surrounded by the walking trails and natural beauty of LaSalette Open Space, and the campus itself feels calm and welcoming, which is something people tend to notice right away, plus there's lots of recreational space like gardens, terraces, and even an Aquatic Center for swimming. Residents can choose from more than 20 apartment floor plans, most with high ceilings, large windows, terraces or balconies, and features like granite kitchens, walk-in closets, washer and dryer, and all the modern amenities you'd expect, including internet, cable, and private bathrooms, and each space comes maintenance-free-so nobody's worrying about lawn care or repairs, and there's a 24/7 emergency response system, smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, and even full generator backup in case the power ever goes out. Staff here are long-tenured, knowledgeable, and work closely with residents and their families; the goal's always been to create a caring and supportive place, where folks can age in place and move to higher levels of care-from independent living to assisted living, memory care, respite, long-term care, or even hospice-without changing communities, and that really sets Duncaster apart.

The Caleb Hitchcock Health Center and Hartford Healthcare Clinic are on campus, which means health care's close at hand, whether that means primary care, urgent visits, or seeing specialists like cardiologists, neurologists, geriatricians, and more, and you'll find 24-hour nursing staff, board-certified geriatric physicians, and nurse practitioners for everything from checkups to help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, transfers, medication management, and meal preparation. Same-day walk-in primary care for adults, virtual healthcare visits, and urgent care for non-life-threatening issues are available, and people like knowing that Duncaster's also connected to the wide Hartford HealthCare network-with clinics, hospitals, and all those specialty providers. Memory care and assisted living come with extra features like carefully designed safety programs, memory-enhancing activities, and behavior support, plus a registered nurse on duty at all times, help with personal care, medication, and whatever daily needs a resident has.

You see a real mix of activities-from arts and crafts to fitness classes, pet therapy, lectures, music, lifelong learning, and trips organized into daily schedules-and there's a beauty salon, a small library, outdoor gardens, and places where friends meet for meals, which are prepared with options for special diets, like diabetes or other nutrition needs. Residents don't have to drive if they don't want to; arranged transportation covers trips to appointments or errands. For caregivers needing a break, Duncaster offers respite care, and for those needing more help near end-of-life, there's hospice as well. The facilities are modern and safe, with generous storage, washer and dryer in-unit, air-conditioning and heating people can control themselves, and garage options for those who still drive.

This is a community with a long history of giving people peace of mind, especially through its LifeCare program, and with ongoing plans for new expansion, there are opportunities now and in the future for folks to join as charter members and enjoy certain first-choice benefits. Virtual tours and online resources are available for people who want to learn more without visiting in person. The focus at Duncaster stays on health, comfort, safety, and a daily life that gives everyone something meaningful to do, whether that's making art, joining a book club, enjoying the pool, or just having the security of care services and medical help when needed.
