Ingraham Manor Nursing Home sits on 400 North Main Street in Bristol, Connecticut, and you'll find it's less than a mile from Bristol Hospital which is handy if someone needs extra hospital care, and it's officially licensed by the state Department of Public Health as a chronic and convalescent nursing home, which means it looks after people who need both short and long-term help, so when you walk in there's skilled nursing staff and medical professionals on the care teams, and you see right away it's operated as a nonprofit by Bristol Hospital & Health Care Group Inc. and has 128 beds in its skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, so residents come for different reasons like recovery from orthopedic injuries, neurological problems, heart-related illnesses, or just needing daily help as they age. Ingraham Manor Nursing Home focuses on a whole-person approach, meaning residents get help not only with health needs, but also daily living like getting meals, help with hygiene, and comfortable living in a supportive environment tailored to each person's needs, and if someone's getting better after surgery or needs therapy, the facility offers short-term and long-term rehabilitation with physical, occupational, and speech therapy programs, plus some specialized services like dental care, optometry, audiology, mental health, and dietary planning, so those little things that matter day-to-day are looked after. Residents can use the outdoor patios, enjoy daily newspaper and mail delivery, and go to the on-site barbershop and beauty salon, the facility arranges meals and some entertainment like fitness and activities, so life can keep some normal rhythm even in long-term care. Ingraham Manor has amenities focusing on comfort, with therapeutic recreational programs and patient-centered services, and while its rating stands at 1.5 based on 13 reviews, it keeps offering a full range of services under the Bristol Health organization, so that includes emergency care, home-based care, hospice, and even things like urgent care, outpatient services, pediatrics, and EMS transportation for those who need it, and there's a Patient and Family Advisory Council meant to help shape care with feedback from the people who live there and their families. The home has proposed selling to for-profit companies, but as of now, it's closely tied with Bristol Hospital, Bristol Health Medical Group, and Bristol Health Retail Pharmacy so people living at Ingraham Manor Nursing Home have access to a network of healthcare and long-term support, and with its focus on holistic and compassionate elder care, residents can get guidance on long-term care, family caregiving, and insurance.

Great rehab, but dangerous neglect
I had a very mixed experience at Ingraham Manor: the rehab therapists, some nurses and CNAs (notably Gordon, Noreen and Lisa) were compassionate, skilled and communicative, and visitation/family updates were often excellent. However the facility is chronically understaffed with inconsistent nursing care, delayed or unresponsive call buttons, cleanliness and food problems, and serious incidents (bedsores, pneumonia, hospital transfers and even death with suspected nurse error) that make me very concerned. In short - great rehab and some outstanding staff, but also neglect, poor communication and safety issues; I'd recommend extreme vigilance if you choose this place.
