About Shady Oaks Assisted Living LLC

Shady Oaks Assisted Living LLC sits over on Stevens Street in Bristol, Connecticut, and has been serving seniors from more than 60 towns and a bunch of states for nearly fifty years, being the only assisted living place in Bristol for all that time and the second of its kind ever started in Connecticut, and you'll find it still run by the same family, right next door, with Tyson the Executive Director living just steps away and always around to help. Folks know Shady Oaks for its warm, gentle, home-style way, keeping about 42 residents in a cozy setting, with high staffing so seniors who need nursing, dementia support, help with moving, and even hospice can stay right here, and there's strong nursing from RNs, LPNs, and CNAs-some who've worked for decades and are paid better so they'll stick around and get to know the folks they serve. The aides during the day usually help about seven residents each, and at night one aide helps about twenty, which helps give that small family feel, and they take care of things like meals, personal care, activities for the mind and spirit, and safe, wheelchair accessible showers. There's a bunch of social and fun activities designed to help people make friends, plus a structured program to keep folks sharp and engaged, and rides to appointments or outings come free. The place is open morning and night, every day of the year, and staff help seniors with memory issues-about seventy percent have dementia in some form-but the building isn't locked up tight, so it works best for folks who are settled and safe in that more relaxed living. There's been awards, too, like CT Humanitarian Home of the Year, Family Owned Business of the Year, and Best of Bristol every year for a while now, showing people notice the care, and most folks stay here all the way through to the end-ninety-five percent, they say. Veterans can get help affording care and there's always someone around, CNA-trained and even a Marine veteran in charge, making sure the needs of seniors, whether for dementia, heart, stroke, Parkinson's, short stays, or just some good home cooking and peace, get met every day, all while keeping everything clean and safe-only eleven people ever caught COVID in five years, which says something about how careful everyone is. Everything feels small and close, with a gentle routine, faith options, a backyard to sit in, and a staff who listen to feedback and keep families updated, and even with that boutique, personal style, there's strong medical care and experience that's made Shady Oaks a steady home for local seniors since 1976.
