    Pleased overall; excellent rehab staff

I had my mom at Aaron Manor and overall I'm very pleased - beautiful, well-kept grounds and a clean, comfortable (if slightly dated) facility. The staff were warm, professional and caring (Mary on third shift was lifesaving), administration kept us informed, and therapies (PT/OT/speech/dietitian) plus rehab were excellent - the food was great too. Communication and responsiveness were generally outstanding, though we noticed occasional short-staffing, slow aide responses, a few care inconsistencies and some incontinence incidents. I'd highly recommend Aaron Manor for skilled rehab and attentive staff, with the caveat to expect occasional turnover and delays.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Aaron Manor is predominantly positive, with clear strengths in clinical rehabilitation, cleanliness, and staff compassion, while recurring concerns center on staffing consistency, certain safety/response issues, activity programming, and cost. A large number of reviewers emphasize that the facility provides expert, attentive care—particularly in short-term rehabilitation settings—crediting skilled therapists (PT/OT/speech) for creative and invested treatment plans and successful recoveries. Families often praised 24/7 medical/nursing coverage, quick assistance in many situations (responses within about five minutes were commonly noted), and administrative support such as insurance handling and proactive family communication.

Care quality and staff behavior are cited as the facility’s core strengths. Multiple reviews describe staff as kind, patient, and family-oriented; some individuals called out specific employees (e.g., a lifesaving nurse) and recounted administrators keeping families informed daily. Rehabilitation services receive repeated commendation: outpatient therapy, pool therapy, speech therapy, dietitian involvement, and creative PT/OT approaches were mentioned as contributing to good outcomes or full recovery. Several reviewers reported pleasant discharge experiences and effective coordination of care plans.

Facility and amenities are also frequently praised. Aaron Manor is described as clean, well-kept, and in some cases luxurious—references to a "stone mansion" appearance and nicely appointed common areas appear alongside listings of on-site amenities like a beauty salon, barber shop, recreation/activity rooms, and a pool. Rooms are generally called comfortable and clean; a few modern studio units are appreciated. The grounds are noted as quiet and nature-oriented, and the location is convenient to hospitals and Route 9, which is a useful advantage for medical follow-up. COVID protocols and PPE use were highlighted positively by several reviewers.

Dining receives favorable comments overall: meals are characterized as varied, appealing, and sometimes exceptional (specific dishes like lobster tail were mentioned). Many residents and families commented on the appealing smell of food, muffins/coffee welcome routines, and that dietary staff were attentive. The facility’s ability to provide meals and accommodate dietary needs (dietitian involvement) was seen as a definite plus for many reviewers.

Activities and social programming present a mixed picture. Some reviews praise an outstanding activities director and vibrant music program (piano and singing) that residents enjoy. Other reviewers, however, described activities as lacking or underwhelming—events that sounded promising did not always meet expectations. This suggests variability in programming quality and resident engagement depending on timing or staff availability.

Several specific safety and staffing concerns recur and temper the otherwise positive narrative. While many reviews state that help arrives quickly, others describe slow or delayed responses—examples include an initial delay to a red-button call and hallway beeps that were hard to hear. Clinical lapses were raised in a minority of reviews: an IV change incident, incontinence management challenges (including increased accidents and plans to adjust medications), and privacy/dignity concerns such as a patient gown being left exposed. Short-staffing, staff turnover, and uneven training (not all staff being dementia-trained) were also reported; some family members noted aides who appeared frustrated or unprofessional. Additionally, there were isolated reports of lost personal items (e.g., hearing aids).

Management and communication appear to vary by case. Several reviews singled out excellent administrator communication and daily family updates, FaceTime arrangements, and staff who treated residents like family. Conversely, some families experienced changes in care consistency after staff turnover or new management phases. Pricing is noted as high by some reviewers, and logistical access requires driving, which may be a drawback for visitors without private transportation. Finally, the physical rooms were repeatedly described as clean and comfortable but in some areas dated in style or lacking small conveniences (reading lamps, etc.).

In summary, Aaron Manor is frequently recommended for rehabilitation and skilled nursing care due to strong therapy programs, caring clinical staff, cleanliness, and helpful administrative support. The facility’s amenities, quiet grounds, and location near medical centers are additional strengths. Prospective residents and families should weigh these positives against recurring concerns about staffing consistency, occasional safety/response lapses, variability in activity programming, possible privacy issues, and higher cost. For those primarily seeking focused rehab and attentive nursing care with supportive amenities, Aaron Manor appears to be a strong option; families of residents with significant dementia-related needs or those highly sensitive to response-time risks should probe current staffing levels, dementia training, alarm systems, and incident-handling practices during tours and intake conversations.

    About Aaron Manor

Aaron Manor Nursing Rehab Center sits on South Wig Hill Road in Chester, offering care for seniors who need help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and taking medicine, and you see staff who speak English plus possibly other languages, so folks can feel more at home. The place has only 60 beds, so it's not too large, and you'll find a family-owned feel, which some people like because it means things aren't managed by a big company. The staff support seniors with memory loss as well, working to lower confusion and help prevent wandering, and they even have special programs for dementia and Alzheimer's. They give out balanced meals planned by chefs and meal planners, and the dining is a bit nicer, with restaurant-style and upscale rooms for eating. Residents can get skilled nursing, outpatient therapy, speech and occupational therapy, IV care, pet therapy, and even end-of-life care if needed, and there's a focus on quick recovery so some can return to the community as soon as possible. The community has spaces for eating and socializing, a beauty salon, and outdoor areas for fresh air, and rooms come set up with cable TV, Wi-Fi, telephones, and kitchenettes. Activities are a mix - some are run by the staff and some are started by the residents themselves - and there are group outings, transportation, and housekeeping services, too. Aaron Manor gives respite care for short stays and has a strong mental wellness program. You can count on compassionate support because the staff goes out of their way to be friendly, kind, and helpful to everyone who comes in, and they've even won the Best of Senior Living Award and hold a 5-Star CMS rating. While the center isn't taking new patients right now, it's well known in the area for honest, patient-centered care focused on what each person really needs, and you'll hear good things about the staff who work closely with families and residents alike.
